1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Re: Simplicity 2981 on: March 15, 2009 08:53:41 PM
yeah, same spot but one on the left side and one on the right side

cannot find the darn thing but here's what I think:

the ties get sewn on to the front edges of the dress at the waist seam
the tie on your left (underside) gets threaded through a slit on the right side seam then wrapped around your back so it's on your left side
the tie on your right (outer side) gets wrapped over the dress around your left side and around your back so it's on your right side

does that make sense? I wish I could illustrate it, I know I'm a very visual person and drawings are always helpful to me.

and you do not sound retarded!

love it!
I don't like camisoles because they always fit my boobs weird/wrong, especially the ones with built in bras.
what a great alternative!
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / found me some cute vintage patterns on: March 13, 2009 07:13:36 PM
I just wanted to share these.
I found them in a box of my stuff from years ago, they originally belonged to my favorite aunt. At the time she gave them to me they would have been too big but I sure am glad I stashed them away!

Are you trying to figure out how they're supposed to tie? If so then I'm pretty sure they wrap around the back and tie in the front. Haven't made this but I know it's somewhere in my pattern stash... think I even had fabric picked out. Gonna go look for it.

This is the closest to a comfortable non-long-line strapless that I've found:
http://www.lanebryant.com/pagebuilder/lane_bryant_product_page?pagesize=3&my_nav=cacique_intimates&cat=bras&subcat=see%20all&item=7743792&s19c=5

I'm still not secure enough in it to have bought it but my best friend has and loves it.
I can't do a long-line in summer, too darn hot here, so if it were mine I would add the straps. If you do it would probably be a good idea to put the little thingys in to keep your straps from slipping out (there's a name for them, I just can't pull it out of my brain right now).

love the flutter sleeve idea!
