23  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / ANYONE INTERESTED IN THEIR QUOTES BEING IN MY PRESENTATION?!Id be very grateful! on: January 18, 2008 01:03:14 AM
I am doing a presentation of my artwork next week, and am linking all my pieces by the common theme of 'nature'. To back up my presentation which is required to be multimedia, I need some quotes on 'nature'. If anyone would be kind enough to fill in this questionairre i'd be so grateful.... I post here because it would be really interesting to get some replies from different countries!

Thanks again.. I really appreciate it!... you can either reply here or pm me if you'd prefer to be private!  Cheesy

'Nature' Questionnaire

Name:
Age:
Location:

  • What do you think of when you hear the word 'nature'?
  • What sort of images do you picture in your mind?
  • After a bit of thought, what does the word 'nature' mean to you?

Some thoughts- Human Nature, Animal nature, Science, Emotions, Trees and Plants, Life and Death, Growing Up, Nature VS. Nurture, Men and Women, The Earth....

Be totally honest, It doesn't matter what you write as long as it looks good on paper and is your own personal view! Grin
Please write in full-ish sentences because i'll need to paraphrase what you write to use as quotes. You will of course be credited!

Thankyou!!!
24  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / 'Urban Environment' photography on: January 17, 2008 12:23:56 PM
This is as part of my a level fine art course. i love these photos! Check out how colourful some birmingham back streets are! The idea for my project was to really focus on the 'skin' of the city as opposed to the buildings etcetera, I thought it would be more interesting to focus on towns in this way.

30  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / NEED HELP IN IDEAS FOR RECREATING AMAZING BAG! on: January 15, 2008 01:21:21 PM

I saw this bag in the V&A fashion collection. It is 1960's and i guess its made from leather/plastic due to its sheen. Basically ever since I saw it I absolutely fell in love with it. Now its got to the point where I really want to make it. So I call for help from all you great craftspeople!

Basically I want to make it out of unconventional materials, seeing as I doubt I can make it in its original materials (too hard) but want it to have the same look and sheen. This for two reasons- a. i have very little sewing experience and b. for such a heavily structured bag I think cardboard or something would be better anyway.

So I need ideas on how I could go about doing this.. recreating the same shapes, making it as durable as possible (though that's not my first interest) and going about it in an interesting way so people will go 'wow, how did you do that?!'

If theres any relevant links in the reconstructed bag section please let me know Smiley
