hey! you can varnish it with shiny brown paint... my mom has a co-worker who gave her a basket just like that... she rolled up the strips, however. A little shiny, brown paint and varnish, and it's hard to tell the difference between paper and flexible wood or twine!

i've made cuffs like that for my friends.. they love em!.. hehe i've made some for myself in black and red cos i love em too....! Cheesy one day i'd like to make a hat outta the fun furry stuff!

i think i know what yarn you're talking about! yeah, i was really frustrated when i used it for the first time, but i used US size 15 needles, but i doubled up the yarn because it wanted it to be thicker.... what i did was try to get as much out from under the needle as you go (which is easier with bigger needles). then once you are finished, "fluff up" and just kinda pull strands free from being caught...
