11  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Re: Things to use as beads on: August 11, 2011 12:06:23 AM
Cut magazine pages into triangular pieces and roll them up to make beads. I also recently found this etsy listing that caught my eye: http://www.etsy.com/listing/64952956/recycled-magazine-disc-necklace-made

The beads on that necklace appear to just be circles cut out of magazine paper, and yet it looks great, at least to me. :]

13  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Rolled Paper Bowl - Tutorial on: August 08, 2011 09:24:13 PM
Thanks for the tutorial! I just started making one of these tonight! My spirals seem a little... small. So I am doubling up on rods for each spiral. How did you get your spirals so large? My rods are pretty short...I feel like I'm doing something wrong. XD

Edit: I started twisting the pieces a bit differently and my rods turned out much longer. I guess it's just trial and error!
14  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Ongoing ATC swap discussion thread--3.0 on: January 30, 2011 01:22:15 PM
Feb thread is up for those who wish to join!!

I will be taking over the organizing duties from WideEyed Life this month!! Can't wait for it all to start rolling!

I only hit the tail end of the january swap, so I probably won't be able to make more than the one claim I currently have. >.< but february will be a different story!
15  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Magazines on: January 26, 2011 10:55:21 PM
What I use magazines for with my papercraft is as a work surface. I do all the cutting, gluing, etc, then when the page I'm on gets sticky and messy, I just rip it off and use the next.

omgosh! This is such a good idea! I never thought of this!

Haha, I feel special now Cheesy I don't remember where I first heard the idea, but it's really convenient. There's a lot less cleanup when you can just throw away your work surface in the end!

I'm not sure of any etsy store but I can recommend skybluepink.com

They have a lot of stuff you might be interested in.

Definitely sounds good for storage. Brushes, pens, etc. Also for in the garage: nails, washers, all that stuff. Or in the kitchen for plastic cutlery, or they should be pretty airtight if you want to put pasta, rice, oatmeal and whatnot. I've also seen people decorate them and make centerpieces out of them.

Sorry most of my suggestions were for storage!

I believe they're the correct size for ATCs (2.5x3.5) which means you could paste them with some nice background paper and create something great, or even make ATCs out of the cards themselves, incorporating the design of the card into it.
