21  Hand Painted Fused Glass- in Glass Crafts: Completed Projects by ammasmama on: November 02, 2009 07:54:02 AM
Been painting my glass the last few weeks, the pieces are fused without the paint, then fused at 15OO again once they're painted, all these are just polka dots... Needed some whimsy and color for the bleak NY winter ahead!!

22  Re: Fabulous Public Glass in Glass Crafts: Discussion and Questions by ammasmama on: October 05, 2009 09:38:02 AM
Architecture being art too, here's one of my local favorite uses of glass, the Utica library is over a hundred years old, and has glass floors!

books, through the floor-

from the bottom-

couple details of the rest of the building-

the hubby jokingly said "glass floors were all the rage in the age of the skirt" which made me wonder, the glass around the edges and in less walked on parts is definitely much clearer than the scuffed hundred year old walked-on parts, did they just politely not look up ?!

24  Amelia's Numbers Dress in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by ammasmama on: September 14, 2009 11:17:39 AM
I started on Craftster in this section years ago, and haven't posted here in forever. My friend IRL TuffasSnails just had a baby and isn't posting, and I see that Vegbee is living in an RV [so happy for you! I miss mine] and am now wondering if anyone I know still posts here in the kid section?!
It's funny, today Amelia saw me looking at Craftster, asked what it was, and asked me to put her "on the Craftster", the tiny baby I made diapers and baby carriers for who was completely oblivious of being online!
So yeah, she's a 2 and 1/2 year old full fledged monkey now. I quit sewing quite a while ago, I think it was diaper burnout... so all I made her this summer were 4 or 5 simple pillowcase dresses. Lucky for me she could wear a burlap sack and be adorable, so simple works out just fine Grin

anyway, she wore this one to a friends wedding recently, and picked the pictures herself, she'll be posting herself in no time!-

I love how later in the day the ponytails droop and the shoes no longer match Grin

sorry for the overkill, but she picked 'em! there you go kiddo, you're "on the Craftster"!

25  Things to Do on a Rainy Day... in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects by ammasmama on: September 13, 2009 10:36:30 AM
We stenciled handprints on Amelia' chair. That's the short version.

She had "school" this morning, as she called it. She wrote letters, learned what a spiral was, and learned "outline" while we were outlining her hands... which lead to outlining on Contact paper and spray painting her camping chair.

If you live in New York then you know it won't stop raining for more than 5 second the last few days, so as soon as I set the chair outside it started misting, then I had to run in for a trash bag to cover the chair from [most of] the overspray. By the time I realized the chair is made with some crazy fabric contact paper won't stick to very well, real raindrops were falling, so I figured forget crisp outlines, and sprayed and ran inside with it.

Anyway, she's very excited to have her handprints on her chair [we've been stenciling everything is sight for days] because she's learned that as she gets bigger her hands will get bigger than the outlines. Still want to add her name, but with the freaking rain that may be awhile! And the point of using contact paper is that the edges are usually very crisp, so don't look at this if you never used it and think it gives fuzzy edges Grin

she loves it-

26  Six Pack Wall Art / Suncatcher in Glass Crafts: Completed Projects by ammasmama on: August 18, 2009 11:35:37 AM
I slumped the bottles separately, then stacked and fused them together. I'm thinking about drilling holes to hang it from, and drilling holes across the bottom to hang strings of bottle openers and bottlecaps and beads from, maybe some fused bottle glass too, but kinda like it the way it is too, I need to decide before a show in two weeks!

28  New Copper and Fused Glass Pendants in Glass Crafts: Completed Projects by ammasmama on: August 03, 2009 12:48:43 PM
Die cut stars and flowers [Sizzix!] made of copper sheet[it changes color in the kiln], fused in-between French vanilla, black, turquoise, pink and soon to be fused, teal and clear glass. They're about 1 and 1/2" to 1 and 3/4", it recently dawned on me that I don't like to wear most of the smaller stuff I make, so things have been growing  Cheesy

New small fused glass sushi plates, all between 4 and 5 inches. Not that they need to be used for sushi, they're just made in a sushi plate mold Grin And fused bottle spoon rests I added spoons to, plus a few other slumped bottles-

The strawberry soap is from Allison at Dirty Ass Soaps, we swap soap for glass every Indie Garage Sale, so many amazing soaps!

30  New Fused Glass Decal Pendants and more! in Glass Crafts: Completed Projects by ammasmama on: May 31, 2009 07:14:25 AM
New pendants, I got a printer to make my own decals a month or so ago, it's been so fun to play with!

Some new dichro pieces-

Copper in glass-

Pocket vases-

and some slumped bottles-

and my new baby!!!

Questions/comments welcome, if it's about decals, you need an HP laser printer that used iron oxide, or mine's ferrite, in the toner, and special waterslide decal paper.  Grin
