41  Baby Dragon Ami in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by pennydreadfull on: August 26, 2011 09:09:50 AM
A few weeks ago at work my mom said "I gotta get you to make me a little critter for my desk too!"
Let me preface with the fact that my mom, sister and I all work together. I had made these (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=367673.msg4321315#msg4321315) little amis for my sister that are now on her desk. So apparently my mom wanted one too. The thing is, my mom isn't "into" little woodland creatures like Jessie is...
She does however love dragons. I tried to find a pattern for a dragon but none of the ones I found really struck my fancy. After getting discouraged that I wouldn't find a pattern I liked, I decided I would try and wing my own. Not entirely though, I basically pieced together a few patterns I already had. I used and altered the body, ears and tail of the fox pattern I made Jessie, I used the wing pattern from this bat (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=362837.msg4259831#msg4259831) and then figured out how to make spikes on my own. I also figured out how to make a cube style pattern for the snout. Lots of pics...
Here is a front shot and an angled one.

Here is a picture to show his size.

And a side shot so you can see the spikes and his tail.

I am insanely pleased with how this little dude turned out and that I was able to alter some patterns to work for me and figured out other parts on my own. My mom really loves him and her baby dragon now has a home on her desk at work!
Thanks so much for looking, C&C always welcome!!

42  Embroidered Spoon Necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by pennydreadfull on: July 13, 2011 07:49:16 PM
My boyfriend bought me a little drill so that I could start embroidering
random objects.  This is the first thing I've done and I'm pretty happy with how it came out.  The holes aren't lined up perfectly but they aren't too bad for a first try I think. They  were drilled in specific places so I could embroider it in a designy kind of way  I gave this to my sister as a birthday present.
Here I am modeling it and a close up...

On the back I added fabric.  Since the spoon is curved, from the side you can kkind of see the back of it and the knots in the embroidery floss, it wasn't too pretty =P

C&C always welcome!  Thanks for looking!

46  Re: Monster Ninni Swap Gallery (MAIL BY 6/13/11) in The Swap Gallery by pennydreadfull on: June 17, 2011 04:44:12 PM
I received my ninni from stove037 yesterday and I am madly in love with him!!!  She made me a bat ninni because i LOVE bats!!

She even stiched my favorite quote on the back of him with glow in the dark thread!!  "el sueno de la razon produce monstruos" from the Franciso Goya sketch of the same name.  I couldn't get it to photograph while glowing but I assure you it does.

She spoiled me with some owl goodies as well!  Owl ribbon, owl stamps, owl charms!!  She also made me a shrinky dink of the Goya sketch that she wasn't happy with and asked me not to post (she's crazy, it's awesome!)

Thank you so so much Stephanie!! I love my Bat Ninni SO MUCH!! He's nice and happy in his new home on my desk at work!
I hope you like what I sent you!

48  Easter Bunny in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by pennydreadfull on: April 18, 2011 06:15:12 AM
I celebrated Easter at my Dad's house yesterday instead of this coming Sunday.  It is my niece's first Easter so I decided she definitely needed an Easter Bunny!  I found this free pattern for a Miffy Bunny on Ravelry. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/miffy-amigurumi
I have no idea who Miffy is but the pattern worked out well.  I didn't stuff the ears, instead I added some springy fabric to them and then a little heart onto the bunny too.

49  Love Muffins! in Recipes and Cooking Tips by pennydreadfull on: March 03, 2011 12:31:18 PM
This is the first thing I've ever posted in the Cooking forum but I was so pleased with how they turned out, I just had to share!
My boyfriend's birthday was this past weekend.  He's been on a health kick so I decided I would make him a bunch of muffins that he could have for breakfast instead of some gnarly breakfast sandwich from Wawa!
I also watched a video on howcast.com for making cupcakes into heart shapes, it didn't turn out AS well with muffins but whatevs, they were cute enough!
I found this recipe on allrecipes.com and the only thing I changed was doubling the amount of dried cranberries and first soaking them in applesauce and then adding the cranberries and applesauce too.

Ingredients
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup sour cream
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup coarsely chopped fresh or frozen cranberries
1/2 cup chopped pecans
TOPPING:
2 tablespoons sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla. Fold in sour cream. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg and salt; stir into creamed mixture just until moistened. Fold in cranberries and pecans. Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full. Combine topping ingredients; sprinkle over batter. Bake at 400 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks.

To get the heart shape, you fill the liners 1/3 of the way, place the marble between the liner and the tin then filling another 1/3 of the way. Like this...

After cooking, only about half actually looked like hearts, these are that half Wink

Close up!

Those are the ones I put on the top of the box to be seen through the window.  I found these awesome boxes at joanns, they make the muffins look so professional!

50  Zombie Magnets in Needlework: Completed Projects by pennydreadfull on: March 03, 2011 12:17:24 PM
I had made this Evil Bunny http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=373626.0 which was a free expansion pack from http://needlenoodles.com/home/  a few weeks ago.  While on the site I saw there were also some free cross stitch patterns and one was a Zombie.
I was actually part of a Monster Swap sooo long ago and my partner made me two magnets, one of the zombie and one of the vampire.
My boyfriends birthday was this past weekend and I decided to make him two magnets with this pattern.  I altered the hair to make one of them a girl.

I saw Birdythemighty made waaaay more awesome ones and bec99 did a whole lot more of the patterns from NeedleNoodles too...so awesome!!
