131  My first Purse! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by pennydreadfull on: November 02, 2007 11:30:13 AM
Well thats not 100% true...I used to make purses when I was in highschool, for myself and friends but they were all hand sewn and basically just a plain tote bag, this was the first purse Ive sewn on a sewing machine.  I used a simplicity pattern, I dont have the number off hand.  It was pretty easy, sewing the handles was kind of confusing, following the pattern...so I just decided to wing it after I got the general jist of it!
This purse is for my sister, I gave it to her last night and she LOVES it, she kept asking what I was making b.c she loved the fabric...is it something she could wear (i generally sew clothing) I added a little pocket on the inside and I made a small matching bag to carry little crap that you can never find like chapstick, a mirror, etc.

heres the pocket on the inside
and this is the little bag to go inside the purse

Thanks for looking!!

132  Corset-y type shirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by pennydreadfull on: October 31, 2007 11:12:11 AM
I made this shirt for my sister to wear to work today for halloween..its not really a costume, she just dressed in all black and did her make up all crazy.  The fabric is really soft, I have no idea what it is but it has sort of a nap to it, theres spider webs on it too. I only put boning in the back, 4 strips on either side of the eyelet tape, i didnt put any in the front, ive still yet to try that  Undecided
Its kind of hard to tell where the shirt ends and the skirt begins but...try your hardest to imagine it, haha!

Shes all excited that she can wear it other than just for halloween, she keep saying "we gotta go somewhere saturday so i can wear it out!"

133  Black with Red Polka Dots! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by pennydreadfull on: October 29, 2007 12:56:52 PM
A really good friend of mine just got married last sunday and I decided to make the dress I would wear...mostly because I can never find dresses I like and also b.c Ive never made a dress before and thought itd be the perfect opportunity!!
I used a butterick pattern, I dont know the number off hand.  I ended up only following the directions about 2/3 of the way through...once it got to the part about attaching the bodice to the dress, and the linings and the zipper...I couldnt understand a damn thing so....I decided to just wing it! It worked out pretty well!  I had to shorten it and take it in alot, even though I measured myself before hand...oh well!
I was about 90% happy with the dress...I think if I had allowed myself more time, I would have been able to finish it a little better, but whatever....it fit really well and for once I wasnt all concerned about my boobs flying out of a sleeveless dress!! YAY!!  I only have action shots of the dress, I hope you can get an idea of it!
Oh yeah, I caught the bouquet and I had no idea that it doesnt just mean that you get married next...oh no...the dude who catches the garter has to put it up yur leg, and the higher it goes, the better luck for the bride and groom....I had no freaking idea!!! It was pretty funny though!

135  polka dot picture frame in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by pennydreadfull on: September 21, 2007 07:17:41 AM
For my BFF's birthday I made her this awesome picture frame as one of her presents. We both love green to death, but these pictures arent really showing the tru color green  Huh its very bright, not pastel-y at all.  the picture in there is kind of a joke between us, we always try to take pictures with one of us holding the camera and we always manage to get a few of just the tops of our heads/forheads.  This picture is to the extreme b.c I didnt realize I had the camera on zoom as well!!

I was also really excited with these b.c it was the first time Ive used the buttonhole feature on my sewing machine, it was way easier than I though it would have been!

138  Leopard Bandana to a Shirt! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by pennydreadfull on: September 18, 2007 08:52:51 AM
I'm sooo happy with the way this shirt turned out!  The bottom, red leopard print is made from 2 bandanas I got at walmart for 97 cents!!  The top is from a plain black tshirt I had laying around in my fabric stash.  I did end up with a bit of a problem with this shirt though.  I used the contoured bust tutorial on whatthecraft.com and that turned out great BUT, for the bottom half of the shirt I used a tshirt of mine that I love as a guidline for the size...WELL i didnt think of the fact that the bandana has no stretch to it so...I couldnt get the damn shirt on!!
Needless to say I almost cried...but then I had a thought...a zipper!! So I unstiched the whole right side of the shirt and sewed in a zipper!  It was my first time sewing a zipper and Im pretty happy with how it came out!!
I plan on wearing this shirt on Saturday to my friends Bachlorette party...it's been kinda cold here lately so, I might make a shrug out of the same tshirt material but anyway....heres the awesome shirt!!
ps- dont mind my bra!

I finished this belt last night!  I freaking love it!!!  I sort of used this tut http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=194048.0 but I modified it a little b.c I didnt use patchwork pieces and I didnt do the tube making part, I just basically sewed the fabric straight onto trimtex!  Sorry for how dirty the mirror is, my sister apparently doenst like to clean her bathroom, haha!

140  Your Favorite Music Sucks in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by pennydreadfull on: September 04, 2007 08:19:46 AM
This shirt which off as a totally normal tshirt which i never really wore b.c the neck was super tight, it sucked.  So I took an orange beater and orange zippers for straps and this is what I came up with!  The back isnt nearly as wonky as it looks in the picture...its just from raising my arms all weird to take the picture...its a real bitch to take pictures of yur own back!
Sorry these ones are kinda blurry...the top says Your Favorite Music Sucks (yes im a music snob) and its a picture of a boom box, hehe!
