1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Look at that cute baby booty! on: July 26, 2009 08:26:05 PM
.. or booties.. as is the case.

Here is a pair of booties that I made for a friend of mine who is about to have her first child, Ava.  I wanted to make her something sweet and simple to fit her taste but that would also be a beautiful keepsake as well.  I used a simplicity vintage pattern that I found.  The fabric is ivory wool felt.  I did the embroidery and stitched the booties together using a blanket stitch.  I hope ya'll like them! Baby Ava's momma sure seemed to!

2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Mustang Pride Quilt on: December 02, 2008 01:51:06 PM
This is my first attempt at anything quilt-like whatsoever!  I know it's nothing complicated but I was still quite proud of myself.  I made this quilt out of football tee shirts for my highschool football team.  My Mom and I still love going to every game and supporting our Mustangs.  I made this quilt a few weeks ago to have when the temps started dropping... it blocks the wind so well!  I used a compilation of different tutorials.  It's FAR from perfect, but I still love it!!!  Sorry for the lack of pictures.. I haven't had a chance to take more than this one of my Mom all snuggled up in it at a recent playoff game.  I hope ya'll like it!

3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / "Crafty" Christmas.. with pics for inspiration! on: August 10, 2008 06:02:04 PM
So my thought is why not do a crafty christmas swap?? All things christmas using crafty items.. like bobbins and beads and thread and ribbons.. rickrack.. pompoms.. you get the picture right?

I've been highly inspired by things I saw on blogs and Flickr this past Christmas and have a long list of things I'm already making for this Christmas for my home.  I'm making a candy-colored pompom garland to wrap around my christmas tree, some adorable little bobbin ornaments for my tree as well, a yarn christmas wreath and even some ribbon trees!

The possibilities for this swap are endless and below are some pics to give you an idea of what I was thinking of.

I hope ya'll like this.  I think it could be an awesome swap!

Here's a pic of the boatloads of pompoms I've made already for my garland

And here are some of the bobbin ornaments I've made already.  I painted plain wooden bobbins and adorned them with ribbons and rickracks and topped them off with adorable little pearly snowflake buttons!

These are two ribbons trees that I just made.. I was inspired by all of the adorable fabric trees that so many crafty ladies were making last year.

So, what do ya'll think?Huh

4  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Now Who's the copycat? on: July 31, 2008 05:41:15 PM
I am!
I know.. shame.. or not! lol  I'm sorry, but when I saw Early Bird Special's adorable french-knot adorned version of the Lisa Petrucci poodle, I knew I just had to do it!  I could not help myself.  I already have always had a thing for pink poodles, and believe me I fully intended on embroidering this little poodle in pink.. but the french knots just completely throw it over the top.  I hope you don't mind my skating your idea, early bird special!

This is all for me, too, by the way!  And I LOOOOVE it!  I'm actually wearing it today, and I just can't stop touching the french knots! lol

Anyhow, here's my version:
I hope ya'll like it!

5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Modern & Vintage.. the best of both worlds on: July 26, 2008 11:38:51 PM
So, I saw these tea towels and fell in love with them.. plus, they're that perfect material that you are just dieing to stitch on all the time.. you know, the needle slides through it like a hot knife through butter.. and yet the fabrics thick enough to not ever get distorted by pulling too tight either with thread or hoop??  Oh yes, I love it.. they feel exactly like the Sublime Stitching tea towels you can purchase, by the way.

ANYHOW!.. I used a vintage Aunt Martha's pattern for the floral motif.. I thought it was just gorgeous.. and mixed with the mod circles?  Oh yeah, baby!  lol.. I know, I know.. I'm overly silly..  I wish I could have captured it in the pictures, but the texture of the embroidery really looks almost like it's flocked.. it looks very soft and velvety.  I love it.  Okay.. so enough blabbing.  I hope ya'll like it!  And I hope my swap partner likes it, too!

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Ooh! Ooh! That could be a dress!! on: July 26, 2008 11:09:28 PM
Well, at least that's what a few people said the moment they saw this apron! lol
This is my first piece of "clothing" to post on Craftster... I've been posting embroidery for over a year now.  Anyhow, I'm pretty nervous about it after having lurked on this section of Craftster for quite a while now admiring all of the amazing work you ladies all do!  So, I hope my sweet little apron is liked and accepted by at least a few of you! lol.. Sorry for the not-so-fantastic pictures.  Ohhh and by the way I made this for a swap.  The woman in the pic is my boss/friend who just so happened to be the same size as my swap partner!  So, she was kind enough to pose for a pic.  Thank you, Z!

Well, not really mine.  I made this for a swap that I just finished up.  I would have loved to  keep her, though.  I think she turned out adorable!

10  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / What does a blue squirrel eat?? on: July 24, 2008 11:31:09 AM
Why, candy acorns, of course!  And he has to do it under a tree with floral fabric leaves and button berries! lol

I made this for a personal swap I just did recently here on Craftster.  My swap partner mentioned she liked my squirrel that I made during the tea towel tour.. so, I just altered the color scheme some and went buckwild.. The tree I just drew on to the fabric with a pencil and stitched away using the stem stitch.  It has a very cool texture in person.  As you can see in one of the pictures, the tree wraps around the sides of this piece.  I really liked that little touch.  It's all embroidered on the fabric, and then I laced it around a canvas.  This is also the first time that I ever "laced" anything.  I really, really liked it.. and I took a pic of that as well.. despite the fact that it looks pretty shabby.. just remember it was my first time.. please! lol

Anyhow, I hope ya'll  like it!
