251  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / In Bloom - FIRST POST AND FIRST PROJECT! on: June 03, 2007 12:02:59 PM

This is my version of the In Bloom clutch:

It's the first project I've tried from HH and only the second thing I've crocheted so I'm ridiculously proud of it! It is lined (which I found by far the hardest part seeing as I lack all but very basic sewing skills) but my husband wouldn't upload the photo of the lining to his flickr acount due to it "being too dark a photo" - men!

Anyhow, as you can see I deviated from the pattern a little and edged the top with a row of single crochet to match the colour of the flower. I'd love to know if people think this works ok....?

Thanks very much!
252  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: First project - Oh heck, not ANOTHER Fat Bottom Bag! on: June 03, 2007 11:51:23 AM
That's lovely - the lining looks so good against the yarn you've chosen. I've just finished In Bloom and so this is next on my list!

Very cute - thanks for posting the pattern. Did you use a special yarn? It seems to have a really nice sheen to it.  Smiley

This is really lovely. I started crocheting when I got pregnant and found myself wanting to make lots of cute things! I really think you should have a go at selling some of your creations - you obviously have talent and you've photographed the top really well which should help with the selling. If you didn't want to sell ready-made tops, you could always consider selling the patterns instead. I've bought a couple of patterns already off etsy and there certainly seems to be a market for them.

Really cute. Can't wait to read your tutorial and have a go at making one myself!
