Beautiful! I'm sure they'll sell well - so pretty and perfect for the wedding season!
12  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Teepee / Play Tent for Toddler on: June 29, 2009 06:36:20 AM
My daughter is fond of hiding and making dens, so Mum and I decided to make her a teepee style play tent for her 2nd birthday....

The pattern is from a book called Sewing in No Time by Emma Hardy. Mum and Dad used to own a carpet and fabric shop when I was little and Mum found a leftover roll of lovely apple green fabric in the attic which we used for the tent. The fabric is from the 1980s and is seriously gorgeous! It's heavier than the type of fabric used in the book (more suited for curtains probably) but we modified the pattern and used thicker poles so that they wouldn't bend under the extra weight.

As you can see, the tent has proved popular with daughter and daddy alike!  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy

Gorgeous dress - you did it a great job. It really suits you and the whole outfit works so well together. Love the belt too!

Thanks very much. Like the sound of your knitted ones - shame your husband isn't keen - perhaps you could arrange for a tragic accident to befall the silicone one.....  Cheesy

My husband has managed to smash his iPhone twice in the past few months - the most recent time resulting in a rather hefty repair bill - so when I spotted this pattern I knew I had to make him one.

I used some scraps of naturally coloured rare breed wool plus some of my handspun alpaca. I'm really pleased with how it turned out and my husband has been using it since we gave it him this morning - so I guess that means he approves!

Thanks for looking!
17  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / Re: Natural Dyeing: Madder and nettles on: June 05, 2009 10:50:20 AM
Thanks Ambri - I've not tried cochineal yet but hope to soon. I personally didn't harvest the nettles but sent my husband out to do it (he wanted some to make nettle beer with anyhow) - he tells me he got quite a few odd looks as he walked down the road wearing my pink rubber gloves and clasping a big bunch of nettles...   Cheesy

whisp3rd - you have a point. Guess I'd have to turn to a life of crime to support my wool habit...  Grin
