2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Re: clip-on tie clip? on: April 04, 2011 07:39:58 PM
thank you... i'm interested in making many of them to sell, so buying / cutting off the clip isn't a practical solution. hair clip might work... any other ideas?
3  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / clip-on tie clip? on: April 02, 2011 09:17:35 PM
Does anyone know what kind of clip I would use to make a clip-on tie? Thanks in advance!

PS I really don't want to use snaps ... I just want to put a clip behind the knot, not have straps that snap/hook/velcro/connect.

Oh man those sound really good. Not only does adding alcohol sound good but I bet they would be really good too dipped in that hard freeze chocolate!
Gonna have to get the ingredients for these!

Holy crap, that's a GREAT idea. YUM. Like the dairy queen type chocolate shell? Mmmmmm.
5  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Poached egg over asparagus with hollandaise on: September 12, 2009 08:55:04 PM
Maybe try wrapping the asparagus in prosciutto to add a salty contrast to everything else?

ooh what a super idea!!! yum.

i am usually here to check out the crafts and sewing etc. and i am happy to say your post caught my attention enuf to go to the food category for the FIRST TIME... Smiley it looks tasty...i'll have to try that myself

oh wow, I'm flattered! I hope you enjoy it if you decide to make it. Smiley

mmmmmm yum....  I want to eat that now... I wish I had bought the asparagus yesterday......  My Mom's holandaise sauce is similar to that, only she spinkles in a bit of seasoning salt (the MSG free version) yumm....

Ooh I do like seasoning salt. Maybe I will try that next time.

Oh my gosh, that looks really good. My mouth actually started watering when I saw it. And thanks for the tip on the sauce, I always thought it was too difficult.

I'm going to try this. Smiley

A lot of people have that same misconception about the sauce being a tricky thing... it's really not, and I'm glad I could put a tutorial out there to inspire people to try it. Smiley Let me know how it goes for you!
6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Poached egg over asparagus with hollandaise on: September 11, 2009 08:19:30 PM
I think this one turned out really pretty... and it was certainly delicious. So simple, but elegant... poached egg over asparagus with hollandaise sauce.
Kind of a girly meal (he'd want a "real entree" and this would be the side item for him), I made it while my husband was out of town. Mmm.

I haven't done a tutorial for how to poach an egg yet, but if you don't know how you could just use an over-easy or over-medium egg... the runny yolk is what makes it so wonderful. And in case you don't already know how to make the sauce, check out my easy hollandaise sauce recipe with step-by-step photos.

The sauce isn't as daunting as people try to make it seem... basically you melt some butter with lemon juice, slowly whisk it into some egg yolks (about 3 tbsp butter, 2 tbsp lemon, 2 egg yolks) and then whisk the whole thing in a double boiler until it thickens.
Easy peasy!
7  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: My new favorite thing to do with chicken thighs. on: September 11, 2009 04:55:27 PM
Hmm, it probably would work fine without pre-roasting the garlic... should have enough time to get sufficiently roasty and soft while the chicken cooks. Smiley

The squash was just yellow summer squash.

And Diane, roasting them together makes it such a quick and easy dinner to whip up... sure you have to wait for it to cook but the prep time is very quick!
