1  Acrylic-Painted T-shirt....Lyrics and Angel Wings! :] in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by green_day_gurl_ on: December 28, 2006 11:58:31 PM
Well, since I didn't make it--only painted it--I guess it counts as "reconstructed"  Wink

Anyhow..
This took me anywhere from 3 to 4 hours [acrylics on tshirts doesn't work too well....they soak in and the color gets a little skewed if you don't do a few coats of the paint, lol]

The lyrics on the front are copyright Yellowcard from their song "Inside Out"

Enjoy!  c( :

2  3 T-Shirts = 1 Homecoming Dress!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by green_day_gurl_ on: September 24, 2006 04:49:26 PM
Okay, let me start off by saying that I'm UBER proud of this...which is very rare for me, because I'm a perfectionist.  haha

So, mix together 3 XL men's tshirts, a sewing machine, and a little help from Generation T [just for the ruffle down the middle, which I probably could have figured out myself...but I didn't want to risk messing it up...], and you get my homecoming dress!

Voila!

Before homecoming [which was last night--I'm on the right!]:

Total cost:  $45  [the shoes were on sale for $35, lol   Cheesy]

I have a few more pictures, but I'll upload them later..until then, you'll just have to be patient!   Wink

3  ~~~BEHOLD!!!!~~~ - painted converse in Shoes: Completed Projects by green_day_gurl_ on: July 24, 2006 01:55:41 AM
Behold the story of my "me" shoes!

Once upon a time, there were a pair of high top black converse that were rarely ever worn because they were a bit broing and looked really strange on the person who owned them.

Because of this, their owner tried to spice them up with some pretty lacey ribbon...

http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/1337/dscn2750zd7.jpg

...which didn't help much.

...at all.

So then she tried cutting them up and making them into low top converse...

...which helped a bit, but they were still rather dull, she decided.

She searched around her room for things to make them look more interesting.

Buckles from an old pair of wristwarmers?

No, too colorless, she decided...but what to use?
Being the overly creative but rather slow person that she is, the owner of the shoes thought and thought, but couldn't come up with a solution to fix her dull shoes.

Then one day, a freak accident caused her to trip and fall into her guitar, which in turn caused a chain reaction, spilling piles of cds, glue bottles, and clothing everywhere!

And at the end of that chain reaction, there were open bottles of acrylicpaint, which tumbled down from the girl's dresser onto her shoes.

"THAT'S IT!" the girl cried, "I'll PAINT the shoes! : D"

AND THUS!

My "me" shoes were born...

outside of right shoe
(Save Ferris logo and all the lucky charms)

inside of right shoe
(four M&Ms, an eyeball with one of the grommets as a pupil, and a freaky cartoony lookin skull)

back of right shoe
(pink strip...because I've decided that the shoes didn't have enough pink.)

http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/7406/dscn2977ss4.jpg

outside of left shoe
("Ren"--my nickname, 'cause my name is Renae-- a heart, and a 1UP mushroom)

inside of left shoe
(a rainbow with a little butterfly charm mod-podged at one end and a little bunny rabbit ^_^)

http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/8408/dscn2979iq0.jpg

back of left shoe
(an orange strip, because orange is my favorite color!)

and a better look at the amazinglyawesome blue flame shoelaces that have been sitting in my room for far too long

Soundtrack to the making of these shoes was:

"1234 1234," "Keasbey Nights," "On and On and On," and "It Takes Some Time" by Catch 22
and
"Come on Eileen," "Mistaken," "Angry Situation," "Turn it Up," "Nobody but Me," and "Superspy" by Save Ferris.

And if you care to know,
Save Ferris is (or, well, was) a ska band and a reference to the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off (I LOVE ska (and Save Ferris!...although I like Catch 22 more...but anyhow) and Ferris Bueller's Day Off is my favorite movie), Lucky Charms are magically delicious (who wouldn't want Lucky Charms on their shoes??), I had a bag of M&Ms sitting next to me while I was making the shoes, the little black grommet reminded me of the pupil of an eyeball (so I made it into one), the skull started out as a 1UP mushroom, but while it was all still white it reminded me of a skull, so I decided to do one of each, "Ren" instead of "Renae" because I couldn't fit my whole name in it because I had already painted on the heart and 1UP mushroom (only about 3 of my friends have ever called me Ren), the heart is there because I couldn't think of anything else to put there and hearts are the random shape I tend to draw the most, Mario and his 1UP mushrooms are awesome and the mushrooms are easy to paint (lol), the rainbow because I've always liked the look of the rainbow and because I'm very open-minded  and a big supporter of diversity (and that doesn't mean only GLBTQ people, but everyone in general),  the butterfly charm is there because I wanted to see if I could mod podge something onto my shoes...which, apparently, I can.., the bunny because I'm a vegetarian and PETA supporter (and I don't wear fur or leather or anything--PETA uses a little bunny similar to the one I painted in some of their anti-fur ads),
AND AS AN ADDED BONUS,

if you click your heels together three times and say "there's no place like Marioland" while wearing these shoes, you'll be taken to a Save Ferris concert somewhere over the rainbow on Dia de los Muertos where there will be plenty of free M&Ms and Lucky Charms!    Cheesy

And so the all black high top converse were all black and high top no more.
THE END!

5  $5 Invader Zim Shirt into Pretty Dress and Matching Wristwarmers :D (IMG heavy) in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by green_day_gurl_ on: July 10, 2006 09:43:15 PM
So I was in the mall, and noticed that Hot Topic was having a sale (hooray!)
I walked in, and all clearance items were half off the clearance price -- !!!   Shocked

Best.
Sale.
Ever.

Anyhow.
They also had a TON of t-shirts, all of which were $5 each, so of course I had to get one...and the only one I really wanted was a size 2X!...but I thought to myself, "hey, I can reconstruct this!"
And so I did.  Smiley

With "108 Ways to Transform a T-Shirt," I came up with a dress design all my own, with ruffly sleeves and ties up the sides.

6  YAY PRETTY (NO SEW!!) RECON'D T-SHIRT! :D in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by green_day_gurl_ on: July 03, 2006 12:04:11 AM
My mom gave me this huge yellow t-shirt to recon (not to keep--just to recon--she said that we can share it, lol  I love my mom), and I made it all perdyful!

back

I admit, I got the idea for the back from a book (my new favorite book!) called "Generation T:  108 Ways to Transform a T-Shirt" (I picked it up in Borders and said, "HOLY CRAP--IT'S THE BIBLE OF RENAE!!  Shocked"  ...Renae is me, if you didn't know....haha) but the front is all mine Smiley

7  Black and red rocker shirt recon in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by green_day_gurl_ on: May 08, 2006 06:26:12 PM
Okay, so I had a shirt that my mom got from her friend at work who is either Filipino or Portugese (at the moment I can't remember which, and my mom isn't around for me to ask her... Undecided).  The shirt says, "Toma lang ng Tama," which she told my mom means something like, "drink less drink" (although I'm not really sure if that's what it means...if you know, please tell me!).  It was an adult large, which is WAY too big for me, so I decided to make it prettier!

The design of the recon (except for the back) isn't mine--I copied it from a singer named Skye Sweetnam who was the one who originally recon'd a shirt into this (you can see what hers looks like at http://www.skyesweetnam.com  --if you go to her "videos" section and watch "About Skye," it shows her before and after shots).
I decided to make the back plain instead of corset, because I'm generally better at regular backs, and I didn't have any matching string   Roll Eyes

Enjoy!

8  Strapless, backless, DUCT TAPE bra in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by green_day_gurl_ on: May 08, 2006 06:06:18 PM
So, girls, you know how you have those shirts that you really can't wear a regular OR a strapless bra with?
The kind that requires you to go out and get that special bra that's only in the front?

Yeah.
I'm a cheapskate, so I decided to make my own out of duct tape.

What better medium to use than one that you can custom fit to your body?

It works quite well, actually, and stays in place (providing that the shirt I'm wearing isn't loose...and none of the ones that I have that require this are...)

Here's basically what it looks like (oh no! I'm showing skin! =O  haha):

Oh, and that's a picture of when it was just taped onto me, which is why the edges don't look all clean and such (and why one boob looks bigger than the other--I made one side to big, haha).  After I taped it on, I (of course) taped more tape to the sticky side so that it doesn't stick.

I thought it was pretty crafty   Smiley

9  Two t-shirts to one bag! (very cute :)) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by green_day_gurl_ on: May 08, 2006 05:58:50 PM
My friend Veronica's birthday was on the 22nd, and I decided that I wanted to make her something special.  So when I went over to her house at her birthday party, I told her that I wanted to make her a t-shirt bag, and to find 2 t-shirts that she liked, but never wore for one reason or another.

So she found me a Roxy shirt and a yellow shirt, and this is the end result:

Okay, so.

I got bored, and had a blank white shirt that I got at the thrift store for $2 and some sharpies, so I decided to get to work!
