11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: For Hooker's Only Swap Gallery! on: June 10, 2008 03:36:34 PM
Awesome packages! I love your flower bag, DV... nice work, Bugaboo!
12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Altered Journal-a-long on: June 05, 2008 06:15:47 PM
Thanks so much for the feedback everyone... I am definitely going to experiment tonight and see how the pages of this chem book will handle watercolor (they're the glossy kind, might have to dig in to my acrylic stash!).

Gem- Love your pages, I am drawn to collage as well Cheesy

Phizzy- Went back to look at your pages again, really inspirational! I didn't notice it was a pomegranate on your red page until someone else mentioned it. D'oh! Looking super though, can't wait to see the other color pages Cheesy

The pages everyone has posted are lovely! I remember seeing some students doing these way back when in an art studio I shared with them... I've always wanted to try one, but never had the time!

And I think now that classes are over, summer is the perfect time to start one. I have a great book too... an old chemistry book from the 80s! Haha!

I do have some silly questions though (and I read through the whole thread to make sure I wasn't been redundant!): Do you apply paint (watercolor or acrylic) directly to the paper or do you prep it somehow? Do the pages warp if you don't prep them?

Thanks in advance... I might post some of my pages up here when I get working on my journal! Cheesy
14  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Ninja Turtle Corset Style Top on: June 02, 2008 08:45:21 PM
This is just too cute! Makes me wish I had saved all those cartoon-themed t-shirts when I moved out of my  parent's house way back when!
15  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Modest Bathing Suit on: June 02, 2008 08:42:17 PM
What a cute way to make a suit a little more comfortable to wear! I've reluctantly resulted to wearing really ugly suits just because that's what was available to cover up all my parts, but this gets me motivated to try and spruce one up. It's very pretty!
16  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: ancient cerulean skirt reconstructed into side-buttoned shorts on: June 02, 2008 08:38:38 PM
I'm loving the transformation... in all honestly, I would have probably tossed the skirt! But you've made some adorable shorts, and I think the buttons add just the right touch! Very cute work!
17  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: For Hookers Only Swap [closed!] on: May 25, 2008 01:06:34 PM
Just checking in... I only have 1 more small to wrap up and then it's off to the Post Office! I'm hoping to get up there on Wednesday.

Everyone who has received already got such bomb packages, I hope mine is up to par! Haha!
18  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: Bead embroidery: red & black heart and green/gray/black swirl with buttons! on: May 21, 2008 06:29:07 PM
These are both beautiful, but I especially like the first creation! It makes a really unique piece of jewelry. Nice work!

That's funny, I thought the same thing! I've only been away for a few days (I graduated yesterday, and my fam has been in town!) and panicked when I saw that people are already sending! cat9, what a nice package! Cheesy That bag is just adorable.

I've got my medium done, and about 5 or 6 smalls ready, and I have a few more small things to put together before I can send! I'm so excited to get things done and find out if my partner likes it all!

Who wouldn't be jelous of the awesomeness of hookers (my husband giggles everytime he hears the name of this swap, we live in reno about 20 minute from a whore house)

No way! I live in Reno, too... just a hop and skip away from the 4th street 'red light district'! Hahaha, small world, huh?
20  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: My Version of the Soda Can Mirror! on: May 13, 2008 12:25:35 PM
Thank you all for your nice comments! Cheesy It was definitely time-consuming, but I'm one of those people that needs a tedious project to turn to when I get stressed out!
