I've been MIA for many reasons won't go into but here's my monkey in her spring frock:

and, voila, yet another dress when she wipes her grimy chocolate hands from eating easter candy on the first look...

Love this pattern so easy yet so many possibilities!!

2  Jack-o-twirl skirt complete with ball fringe! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by missmonkeymae on: October 28, 2007 12:16:51 PM
Made this for Miss Monkey Mae for Halloween.  We have a huge Halloween festival in our neighborhood the Saturday before Halloween.  I've had it made for weeks but have been waiting for action shots.  Here they are:

BTW, I'm loving this online photo editing website, http://www.picnik.com/app#/home/welcome
As, you can see I've dolled them up a bit thanks to picnik.

3  Mah Jong Anyone? in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by missmonkeymae on: October 22, 2007 02:48:28 PM
Here's an outfit I recently made for a design group challenge the theme being "games".  There was much gnashing of teeth because of beginner sewer mistakes...one after the other but finally it is done!  Here's Miss Monkey Mae showing it off:

I can tell you this...it'll be a while before I do this again.  Sewing for pleasure is just that...much more pleasureable!

4  Miss Maddie's twirlin' birthday skirt made by rockin' auntie! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by missmonkeymae on: September 26, 2007 12:35:13 PM
My niece Maddie is celebrating her 4th birthday this weekend.  I had found this cute sweater this summer at a garage sale (she loves purple) and knew it needed a cute skirt made by Aunt Kelly for her birthday. So here it is...

5  Goulish reversible jumper and pants (img heavy) now with action pics! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by missmonkeymae on: September 14, 2007 03:10:58 PM
I don't have any action shots yet...I can't believe how easy the jumper was to make. So satisfying!! And, yes, my first pair of pants sewn by me.  The legs look a bit wide.  Hmmm, I'm not sure how to fix that now...anyway, here are some pics. Thanks for letting me share!
The whole outfit:

button detail (no button holes- - sorry, vegbee! still avoiding them!):

6  Peasant top and recon capris in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by missmonkeymae on: August 03, 2007 01:59:08 PM
I worked way too hard on this.  My learning curve when it comes to all things sewing is ridiculously long  Undecided  The material was actually 2 pillowcases from the DAV thrift store. Thanks to the posts on the other board who helped me figure out the insert ruffles on the legs! They didn't come out as flouncy as I would have liked but stick a fork in me...I am done!!

I'll be getting some action shots come fall but it's blasted hot here right now!

my very first try at shirring!

7  Monkey Mae's vegbee wrap skirt in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by missmonkeymae on: August 03, 2007 01:51:32 PM
I made this wrap skirt for MM 2nd birthday.  She's mad about Elmo  Tongue
Any-whoo, it seemed like something even I could manage...days later I finally put it together to find I really needed a button hole.  Just slice a hole in the bias tape waist and zig-zagged around it.  I promise I'll move onto buttonholes soon vegbee!  The skirt still seems to get droopy and I misjudged where the buttonhole should go...but,hey, I love the material and my girl!!

here's the link to vegbee's inspiration: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=115979.0

8  Halter pillowcase dress in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by missmonkeymae on: July 25, 2007 03:37:43 PM
Here's Monkey Mae in a halter pillowcase dress I made.  I got the fabric to make myself a skirt but my muse had other ideas  Wink It was from a set of e-patterns I bought on ebay.

I thought I'd share with you guys a some things I made this summer in my first attempt to recon some thrift store duds for the kids.  Ended up selling Miss Monkey's on ebay's (that's a whole other learning curve!) and making her something else.
