1  Shopping for hooks in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by thewalrusisme on: May 15, 2004 05:31:54 PM
Hey Chicas,
I'm looking to buy some silver sterling earring hooks.  I've made a very rough sketch of the type i prefer.  They have a little built in hook that the big hook, well hooks into  Wink
the purple thing is just to represetn some sort of earring piece on the hook.

I'm just super sensitive to earrings and want to latch on some quality hooks to not so quality earrings i pick up at yardsales/thriftstores/etc

thanks for your help!!
peace

3  Re:Stitch 'n Bitch Projects in Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller by thewalrusisme on: January 17, 2004 08:40:06 AM

okay, so i bought the stitch n bitch book for my sister for xmas, but i've been using it for myself...
i'm a beginning knitter so i started with the wristwarmer things. i like the yellow with the red star because it's kind of wonder woman-y, though i made a mistake with the edges (i knit 2 ROWS/ purl 2 ROWS, instead of stitches-- oops!). i drew up the pattern for the heart.
i'm having a lot of trouble binding off though. my bound off edge doesn't really stretch.
next i want to do one with a pacman ghost. i already drew the pattern up.

love the star one, like u said, very "wonder woman-y"  Wink  but do u know what element her cuffs were made of? ...... "Feminum" i think thats f*in great!  [thank god for bar trivia machines]

4  Re:Iron-On Transfers in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Discussion and Questions by thewalrusisme on: January 14, 2004 09:54:15 AM
dramaqueen..ive always had that problem with iron on transfers... and i usually use 100% cotton stuff... its just that they kinda work like temporary tattoos...dont know if that makes any sense...but the only suggestion i can make is to cut as close to the letters as possible so there isnt much of the clear shiney transfer left to..well, transfer to the fabric
OR embrace the shininess and cut it out to be some sort of shape around the letters sorta like....

where the yellow represents the clear shiney part of the iron on...

i've decided to fill this with the gel air freshner stuff from another thread..probably blue... and put a cork in the top
