1  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Fundraising for pediatric aids and in need of suggestions! on: January 01, 2009 05:05:10 PM
Hello! I'm participating in Dance Marathon at UCLA, which is the largest student run philanthropic event on the west coast.  We're on our feet for 26 hours straight in order to raise money for pediatric HIV/AIDs research and relief. Last year, we raised $385,000!  Each student is asked to raise a certain amount of money to participate, and since I really have no one to ask, I thought it would be a good idea to sell some of the things I make. I have to raise about $250, which is quite a bit, and I'm not really sure if this idea will work or not with the cost of supplies and everything. Anyways, I was thinking of making an etsy to sell things I crochet/sew, but since I'm just starting, and don't have anything, and I have a limited amount of time. I was hoping I could get some suggestions/tips on what to do.  Any other ideas?
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My first recon! on: July 25, 2007 03:19:35 PM
This started out as a HUGE long sleeved shirt thing with a zip up collar I found at a thrift store. I didn't take a before picture  Undecided anyways, here's the result

back (disregard the horrible tan...i swim >.<)

Its too short to be a dress....too long for a shirt, so I figured spandex would make it work best =) I'm very happy with the result, although the back V is a little off center (thats where the zipper was). I'm pleased!  Grin
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My first dress =) on: July 25, 2007 03:13:16 PM
Uh, I've never done this before, so I'm not sure if I'm doing it right...but I'm really excited because I finished a dress! I used Lamby's tutorial for the basic dress. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=77268.0
I didn't have a zipper, so I used cowsgoMOO's idea for the back http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=32432.0

(I hope the links work..)

I'm proud of myself, because its not half bad =) I was planning on adding bows to the back to cover the elastic, but since I'll probably never wear it out I'm not sure its worth the effort. The fabric is far too...girly? I dont know, but its not my style, haha. It was all I had Cheesy
