1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help with German Pattern? on: September 23, 2012 11:00:15 AM
Thank you, Soozeq!  Smiley That's a handy group of links, and I think you might be on to something with the 'repeat' part.

Have done the border and am 6 rows into the pattern, which so far is plain knit and purl.

Thanks, sarahj2001.  Smiley

But I'm still not understanding this:
A = abwechseld 3R 1 L ( Beispiel: 2A = 3R 1L 3R 1L )

although after more searching, it looks like Beispiel means "Example" so that's not part of the actual directions.

One translator said abwechseld meant 'rotary'.

Unless they are just using the dash instead of parentheses or commas to show a group of stitches.

Well, I will try that and see how far I get.  Cheesy
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help with German Pattern? on: September 20, 2012 03:50:21 PM
I would like to make this swan dishcloth, but the pattern's in German.

So far I think I've been able to figure out:

that the pattern doesn't include the border
rechte masche is knit
linke masche is purl
odd rows are knit (maybe?)

This part I can't figure out at all:
A = abwechseld 3R 1 L ( Beispiel: 2A = 3R 1L 3R 1L )
B = abwechseld 2R 1 L ( Beispiel: 2A = 2R 1L 2R 1L )

Any help appreciated!

That's absolutely lovely! I like the colors and the way you used the opposite color on the edging!

It looks good, dawn0684! Thanks for joining me!

I got sidetracked on a 12" square, but I'm ready to catch up with you!

I just started a new afghan this morning, it's going to be big and I would love some company in the coming weeks! Any ripple pattern you want to use would be fine, I'm using this one:

I nearly went with this one, it's pretty, too! Maybe for the next blanket!

Mine's going to be butter yellow, sage, and tan. I'm halfway into Row 2!  Smiley

WOW mochaxlight! They turned out great! The top one reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream, lol! And your mom's is very Spring!

I'm having raveling issues with my '07 afghan, too, now it's been through the washing machine a few times. I joined the '08 squares with single crochet instead of whipstitching, that seems more sturdy. Also, I noticed most of the unraveling is occuring at the centers, so I will try to take extra care at the starts. I was going to ask if anyone had any tips on that, too, so I'm glad you asked!

Thanks, CraftADDchick! I think I'll call this color palette: Old West. LOL!  Cheesy

Thanks, guys!  Grin  It seems I was going on a chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and cherry theme with this one.
