Thanks for the information. I know nothing about digitizing but would like to learn.  I have Embird but have just really used it to resize pes files that I have purchased online.

Is embroidery magic 2 and stitch era universal easy to learn? Did you scan the football logo and then digitize the scanned file?

Dawl: What software are you using to digitize? I would love to learn how too but don't even know where to start

Did you use a pattern/tutorial? My niece is learning to sew and this would be a great project for her.

Alwaysinmyroom: That is why I have never purchased those CD's I see.  they are expensive and alot of the designs I wouldn't use. So the embroidery library has been great.  I can buy individual files or if I like the entire group, I can do that too.  They are reasonable and always are having sales... So, I have been able to purchase some really nice files and haven't spent a fortune. They have several formats to choose from... And you can't sell the file but you can sell items that you have used the file on... good Luck...

Alwaysinmyroom: The little turkeys are files that I purchased from embroidery library. They were on sale. http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/Products.aspx?Catalog=Emblibrary&ProductID=D8974
The actual making of the placemats is my own pattern. I love the wavy top stitch...

I just love Thanksgiving. And I wanted to make some cute Thanksgiving placemats for my own dinner table. I just love how they turned out... I made 8 placemats. 4 say "gobble" and
4 say "wobble". The wobble turkey is fatter.  I just love them...

From this

close up of turkey... sorry I didn't clean off the soluable stuff off the lettering.

I have a Brother LB6800-Sewing/Embroidery combo.  It is my first machine and I just LOVE IT!! I couldn't bring myself to spend $1000 or more on a machine that I wasn't even sure I would use enough to justify that $1000.... I bought the machine from costco.com for $400... and it came with a whole lot of thread. It is has a USB port so, I just link it up to my laptop and away I go.  I buy alot of designs from Embroidery Library. It only embroiders 4X4, but I have found that is fine for what I am doing.

I did buy some software- Embird for about $150 and I can manipulate the files.  I just recently purchased the add on Font Engine and love it.  I can use the fonts that I use in my word processing or printshop and it coverts them to stitches.... i have been using it alot......

I have 2 other brother sewing machines that I just love.  Had Singer but had so many issues with tension and bobbins that I just couldn't stand it anymore. I have had NO problems with this machine. Pretty much used right out of the box, that easy.......

As you can see, I just adore this machine. Anytime anyone asks me about what machine I use, I light up like a Christmas Tree...
