1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Hands-free Baby Costume on: November 02, 2009 09:16:04 AM
Coming up with a costume for a small fry was challenging. Our daughter is 10 months old, but we wanted her to go trick or treating with her cousins who are 6 and 10. We thought about doing a stroller costume, but then inspiration hit for a costume based around using our Bjorn Baby Frontpack.

Meet Libby the Potted Plant! She was a huge hit. Cant wait for next year!

2  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Luxury Cat Condo Extraordinare on: June 06, 2007 07:54:43 AM
In the last year or so I have started getting interesting in working with wood. Up to now I haven't ever done anything from a plan (mainly I just hammer planks of wood together at right angles and voila...we have a table). However, I couldn't pass this up.

I was flipping through this magazine:

When I saw this picutre:

It says right on the piture "Make It", so I did. Here is the outcome:

A similar cat condo purchased from a pet store or online runs anywhere from $175-$300. The total cost for this project was $70. A large part of that cost ($24) was the carpet. I purchased cheap bath mats from Menard's and cut them to fit because I wanted all different colors and textures. If you have leftover carpet, then this could be an even cheaper project. Just goes to show, crafting isn't just good times...it is also fiscally responsible.   Grin

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Fabulous Felt embellished totes-flapper girl and turntable on: January 05, 2005 08:14:35 AM
I made these great bags for a couple of crafty ladies I know who tote their knitting around in kroger plastic grocery bags. They were super easy to make. See below!

Closeups:

I used RIT dye on some plain white Tote bags that I got from Michael's. The flapper and the turntable images came from a website (www.chucklescentral.com). I simply cut the shapes out of felt and hotglued them onto the bag. I am sure that it wouldn't stand up to a washing machine, but for a lightly used tote I think they look uber cool.

Details of swap:

Not too long ago someone started an idea for a panty exchange on the swap board that didnt end up getting started. However, there seemed to be big-time interest. The other swap was set up like a chain letter. Since those never work and someone always gets stuck with nothing in the end, this is just a good ol fashioned swap.

Or is it?

Everyone has boring underwear in their collection. So, lets jazz it up and bring some excitement to the panty wearers of the world. The goal for this swap is to find the loudest patterned panties in the west (or east, or north, or south, etc). Look for busy, crazy, strange! Each person will buy panties for two people and each person will receive panties from two people. The only thing more fun than one pair of loud panties is two pairs of loud panties!

Since this is Craftster.org, after all, lets just go crazy decorating the mailers for the undies. The sky is the limit so long as the Post Office will still mail it!

Special Instructions:    This exchange is intended to be for womens underwear only.
Although we are looking for loud patterns and unusual appearance, these should be wearable garments. Please do not send anyone panties whose design or shape is so out of this world that they wont be comfortable.
No recycled goods. You should purchase new, unworn underwear. Please leave the tags on them for everyones peace of mind.
If you have specific fabric allergies or fabric issues, please do not participate in this swap. We dont want to send anyone on a wild goose chase for just the right blend of cotton, rayon, nylon, and spandex.
Since underwear is lightweight and non-breakable, I believe that we can mail them in lightweight or padded manila envelopes. However, you will still need to do a delivery confirmation in order for me to track who has not gotten their panties from whom.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:
