That is the exact same chair my parents had when I was growing up. Only there was four of them, and they went around our dining table. I remember how nasty that plastic cover felt when you wore shorts. Wow! Thanks for posting that! I loved those chairs!

I have ordered Falkland wool top from Hobbledehoy, and it was extremely soft. I would definitely recommend it.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I think you did an admirable job for your first time. It's magically pretty yarn, besides. Those are pretty much all my favorite colors.

You could press them between books after they dry. Or under something else that's really heavy.
