2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Wrong needle size?? on: January 29, 2005 11:13:47 AM
Just yesterday I went to joanns to pick up some double-point knitting needles that a beanie pattern had asked for, it said to use US 6. After I purchased them, I noticed the size did say US 6 but it also said 4.25mm.  I thought that was kinda weird. Do you guys think it make much difference to use them on this pattern, or should I take them back?

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Basic Stockinette Beanie? on: January 18, 2005 12:45:46 AM
Hi all! I was wondering if some of you can help me on this...I'm looking for a basic looking stockinette beanie pattern using 5.5mm knitting needles. Does anyone know a good pattern for it? i'm looking to make a beanie that will fit a 22" cir. head.
Well if i couldn't find a pattern and I was to do it myself, does anyone know if i was to use 5.5mm knitting needles, how many stitches do i need to cast on for it? Any help will be great! Thank you!  Smiley
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help! Yarn substitute for Hot Head Beanie? on: January 13, 2005 01:15:34 AM
I went to my local yarn store and found out that the shop was out of stock of Lamb's Pride Bulky, so instead I purchased 2 skeins of Patons "Decor" www.patonsyarns.com , its a Medium 4. The shop owner told me if i double up the Patons yarn while knitting, it will be the same as using Lamb's Pride Bulky. Would this be true? I just want to make sure before I start.

By the time I got home, I thought how awkward its going to be (not to mention confusing perhaps) FOR ME to double up the yarn. I wanted to be able to do the beanie the EXACT same way, but now im having to tweak things, and i dont want to make it harder since this will be my first decreasing item to make.

Also, what do you girls think would be a great yarn substitute for this beanie? Any suggestions? I would LOVE to know. Thank you for ALL of your help in advance!  Smiley

i would like to add: I wish i could wait for the shipment of Lamb's Pride that she orderedd, but she's won't recieve it for another 4 to 6 WEEKS.

Does anyone want to join? Smiley

I'm planning to go to the YS tomorrow to pick up some Lamb's Pride Bulky and 6.5mm knitting needles ( i only have a 5mm, so that wont work, haha),  so hopefully I can start soon.  Tongue
