polly pocket, bulky, mill ends with other stuff blended in

snow day (very fitting to today) mill ends, locks, angelina

Chocolate silk, wool, soysilk, apalca.  so soft... I need to make more!

I'm really proud of this one, because it's actually worsted weight, and two ply.  Pretty much everything I spin is bulky...

Like these:

calling it "Homewrecker" because it was the batt that broke my carder... cottswold locks, merino, mohair, nylon

calling it Kermit.  it's already gone, so I don't remember the yardage, but it's bulky weight, cottswold and soysilk.

3  Re: My Fancy Kitty in Spinning: Discussion and Questions by LindsayLuu on: November 25, 2008 07:16:27 AM
So, I know I'm not the original poster here, but I also have the kitten drum carder and I thought I would share a few pictures with you.  First of all, you should know that Ron who makes these is super awesome.  Great customer service.  I broke my carder the first week i had it.  You really CANT try to force anything through  or the wood can split.  He fixed it free of charge for me even though it was my error.  He also guarantees the workmanship so if there is a defect you're covered.

Ok, pictures of the carder, sorry I didn't clean it all the way, and some batts that I made this weekend:

This one is some apalca I got in a wishlist swap last year.  I was waiting until i could card it easier.  It's blended with some peach colored Corriedale, bulky weight. It's called "Rustic Apalca"

this is what happens when you throw all of your scraps into the carder and then spin them up.  Scraps mixed with white mill ends and white "faux cashmere". It's called "Leftovers"

Here's a few more, sorry for the smaller pics, I'm at work and I don't have all of them with me.  The three that are 2-ply are merino, the singles is corriedale, all dyed by me!

really, you might not need the instructions, they were super easy!

6  I've missed a few fiber fridays (lots o' pics) in Spinning: Completed Projects by LindsayLuu on: April 14, 2008 07:32:08 PM
Mostly because I'm too busy/lazy to measure and take pics of what I make.  So I took some tonight and it should only be four photos.

First:purple one is hand dyed merino, two ply worsted, about 90 yards.  The other is black and white mill ends 2 ply worsted and also abt 90 yards

And the greens.  All are two ply, hand dyed merino,  mill ends and merino/silk blend.  I won't bore you with the numbers Smiley

Purples: all of this is hand dyed merino.  one thread plied, one soft singles (the first one I've made that wasn't overspun!), and one two ply

Last: The first three are two ply, the last is 3 ply.  first one is merino/silk and the rest are hand dyed mill ends.

They all have names, ask if you'd like to hear them, I don't have the energy right now.  Thanks for looking!!

I skipped last week, and I have a few to show you now.  I never seem to have the yarn dried and photographed by friday!
This one is called Liberty.  It is hand dyed mill ends blended (with dog brushes) with mohair.  I decided I don't really like working with mohair, it comes out scratchy for me. 83 yards, worsted weight

Next we have Goldilocks, overspun single, handdyed merino.  116 yards, thick and thin

This one is Starry Night, hand dyed mill ends with black thread and gold beads.  36 yards, thick and thin.

Lastly for today, October.  Fiber batt from an etsy seller, plied with clear thread and beads

I've been working on a bunch of 2 and 3 ply yarns, but like I said none of them are photographed yet.

Wow, everyone made such fun yarns this week.  I especially like Peas and Carrots, the colors are great.  I just got my wheel last friday, so I've been playing a bunch, but I do have some finished ones for you to look at.  There are also a few hanging in my shower, but those will have to wait for next week.

First yarn ever on my wheel.  I don't know what to call it, and I didn't meausre it.  It's a bulky 2 ply with my hand dyed rovings:

Next is "deepest sea", messy thread plied with lots of coils, curls and bumps.  120ish yards, thick and thin:

Now my favorite so far.  I haven't set the twist or measured it yet, but I think I'm going to call it simply, "summer".  2 ply, hand dyed merino by me Smiley
