1  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Keeping it all together?! on: July 26, 2008 04:32:13 PM
Thanks both of you for the replies!
The first time i did it, I tried to be lazy and just pinned it alot. That didn't work!
Yesterday I spent a few hours picking out all the stitches and used basting spray, which is amazing!
Now it's coming along beautifully Smiley
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Keeping it all together?! on: July 24, 2008 05:54:00 PM
I'm sure you very-experienced quilters out there can help me!!
I'm making my very first quilt...I've made the top and back and attempted to put it all together. I quilted the first square in the middle and now the whole back is all wonky. How do you keep the back straight while quilting? I'm quilting on my regular sewing machine.
If I get a walking foot, is that the only thing I'll need to keep it nice and straight? Someone please help! Thanks in advance for the advice Smiley
3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: How do you figure out the selling price of your handmade items? on: June 25, 2008 07:47:12 PM
For pricing, I do it this way:
I take the cost of the fabric, interfacing & closures (snap or zipper) and divide by how many uses I get out of it. For you, I would include shipping, since that can add up. I don't think it's necessary to include driving distances, at least for me, since I work less than a mile away from the fabric store. I don't include things like thread, needles, etc.
I then pay myself $12 an hour (since I am a student, and this is a very-part time thing). So if I make a wristlet, it's $1-$2 (if that) for materials, and it takes me about 30 minutes. That would be $7-$8. Then, if I think people would pay more than that, I include a markup. So, I charge $12 for my wristlets...
Hope this helps!

Wow, this is all such great stuff  Grin

I think I totally messed up the "received" on the front page.
The only ones (according to the front page) that HAVE NOT received yet are:
eye_on_sparrow
sulkycat
jillville
munk_munk
crafty_dame
geeber

I double checked my PM's, and none of you have PMed me to say that you received.  Also, if you HAVE NOT yet received and are not on the above list, PM me. Thanks!
