1  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Lattice scarf tutorial *Lots of pics ! on: November 06, 2007 01:45:05 PM
Thank you! Thank you!  I can't wait to try this!  I have a couple of ideas floating around in my head.  Unfortunately, I have company coming this weekend, and have a ton of cleaning to do.  If I hurry, I may have a chance to squeeze it in before they get here  Grin
2  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Re: beginner felter --hELP!!! on: October 31, 2007 04:28:23 PM
First, don't get overwhelmed.  The vessel you have pictured in your message was one I made.  It was only my third attempt at felting.  I just followed one of the great tutorials on this board.  I made the "vessel" around a balloon filled with water.  The tutorials explain it much better than I could.

My first attempt was a beret.  I wasn't very good at laying out the wool and there are a few holes that need to be repaired.  My second project was felted beads, the plain round ones, nothing fancy.  The third that you pictured (I squeeled in delight when I saw it!), it's not perfect either, but it was really fun to do.

I won't comment on the needle felting, I have only just puttered with that.  I dream of needle felting little critters . . .maybe someday!

3  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Bringing back the craftster felt-a-longs? Other ideas for our felting group on: October 29, 2007 03:22:21 PM
Yaaaah!  It sounds like fun.  I would love to try a lattice scarf or any smaller project for that matter! My felting has been set aside for too long.  Now that winter is on the doorstep, it would be a great time to spend time inside starting a new project.

Very colorful!  Pinwheels always remind me of childhood summers!  What did you end up doing with them?
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: What pattern is this ?? on: September 05, 2007 03:23:46 AM
Ooooh!  I had never noticed the "tie bag" before.  Thanks for mentioning it!  I may have to go and dig through my husband's old ties . . .

It looks a lot like the Sweet Pea Handbag.  I purchased my pattern from www.youcanmakethis.com

Excellent job!  I love all the different patterns you combined, they work really well together.  I vote for capped sleeves, if it goes with your style of dress  Wink
8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: First Quilt - 10 years in making on: August 18, 2007 12:16:24 PM
Thanks everyone!  I've sewn since I was a kid, so the step over to quilting wasn't so hard.  I even learned to hand quilt as a youngster like the Amish way.  (Not sure if its different from the way everyone else does it or not)  I've just never completed anything!

I'm not completely satisfied with my machine quilting.  I need to invest in a walking foot for my next project.  I haven't quite decided what that will be.  I bought a two quilting books a few weeks ago . . . .
9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / First Quilt - 10 years in making on: August 18, 2007 04:28:00 AM
Here are some pictures of my first quilt I just finished last night!  I started it soon after I was first married.  And this winter will be our 10th anniversary!  It sat in my closet for a long time before I got up the nerve to quilt it and bind it.  It is all machine sewn and quilted.

I have a few other quilts I would like to try, but this one had to be finished first!  It measures about 36"x36".

This is beautiful!  It looks like something you would buy in a vintage shop!  You did an excellent job.
