The designs came from this blog -  http://patternmakercharts.blogspot.com/ It's amazing, so many beautiful charts!!!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Wedding Gift - my first cross stitch on: April 03, 2010 05:16:46 PM
My cousin got married yesterday and even though they didn't want gifts (they already have everything they need) I wanted to make them something they could hang on their wall to remember their wedding day.
I'd never done cross stitch before so thought I'd give it a go! I found a great website with a million and one old charts so I worked off those and came up with the design below.

The B and C are their initials (obv.) in a dark blue with a golden crown on top and the date of their wedding underneath, magenta loveheart and off-white/bone coloured fancy bits on the sides.

The colours aren't too good in this one but you can see the detail better.

I even mounted it (was a bit nerve-wracking to get it straight!) and we found the perfect frame for it! I was so so happy with it, I hope they liked it too!

Your mom will be pleased.
How did  you join the different colours?

Good work.
Janey

Thanks Janey.
The strips are machine sewn along the length of them and when you get to the end you add on the next strip. Very easy, just takes a wee while Tongue

7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / first embroidery - my mother's garden on: December 21, 2009 11:36:42 PM
This year for my mum's bday I surprised her with an embroidery of her front garden. I learned a lot while doing it, and am really happy with how it turned out! She is thinking of moving house or building a new house so this will be a great way to remember the house and garden.

rhododendrons, conifers, xmas lillies, among other plants I don't know the names of!

kowhai tree, hebe, poppies, roses, lavender, fern, foxglove, and blossoming plum tree

the whole thing, in a wooden frame

the photo i worked off.

8  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / monsters for xmas! on: December 21, 2009 11:27:22 PM
I made 2 monsters (I say monsters as they are no creature in particular) for my boyfriend's nieces. Drew the pattern up myself. Faces are made from felt. Had to handsew the leopard one as it was quite thick, but machine sewed the pink one together.

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / fabric strip knitted scarf on: December 21, 2009 11:24:55 PM
This is one of my mum's xmas presents this year.
I cut 3 colours of lining into strips and sewed them together lengthwise to create a ball of "yarn" and got knitting! Added a buttonhole and fancy button too Smiley
