2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Tulip Wall Hanging on: May 24, 2015 02:30:34 PM
At my senior center our latest project was to make 3 fabric tulips and some felt green leaves.  Instead of supplying us with wreaths to put them on (too expensive) they supplied large brass rings.  Our group did not like the rings.  One of the ladies covered a wreath she had with paper twist and another had a wreath that she covered with burlap ribbon.  Three ladies used a large embroidery hoop with fabric stretched over it and edged with lace, to put their tulips on. And yet another one put hers on a purchased grapevine wreath.  I didn't like the tulip pattern so I found another one on line and made them bigger.  I found this wicker tray at a thrift sale. and I used plastic canvas to make a window box.  I got a piece of floral foam at the Dollar Tree and I had some moss at home.  This is the end result:

5  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Making Mayonnaise on: May 15, 2015 01:53:37 PM
I've seen recipes similar to these in the past.  I hesitated to make it because it uses fresh eggs.  The commercial mayonnaise is either pasteurized or treated in some way to prevent food poisoning from using raw eggs.  I know many years ago people didn't worry about using raw eggs.  My sister used to give raw eggs to her children when they were very young.

ted in some way

That's a very pretty button hoop.
I might consider this swap if it isn't too big.  I'm not in to biggies anymore.

I'd be interested.  I prefer the smallish swaps.
8  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Maxwell House Plastic Containers on: April 25, 2015 11:51:59 AM
Paint them, mod podge some tissue, for fabric on them etc., and use them for planters.  They could make a nice set of canisters for your kitchen counter..

Cut them into spirals and you could crochet rag rugs, placemats a/o coasters with them.  You could weave potholders also.

You could probably crochet (or knit something with it.  Perhaps a drawstring bag for makeup. I'm sure you can think of something else you could crochet/knit with it.  You could color it with Kool Aid if you like.
