1  Re: My Nolita knock-off bag~ Now with Tut in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Huff on: June 13, 2008 06:38:02 AM
Oooh that's my bag!  It's the best!  So big! Big enough to fit my knitting as well as my everyday stuff too, but still closes up compact so it's easy to carry!  Here's what's in it right now!

2  Giraffe Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by Huff on: May 15, 2008 05:17:26 PM
I made this quilt for my lovely partner in the Make a Friend Swap and she got it today, yay!  So now I can put it up here.  It is my own design, inspired by a photo of a mummy giraffe snuggling her baby, I'll track it down and put it in here too.  It's the 4th wall hanging I've designed myself, the others are in varying states of incompletion!  Swaps are a great way to ensure that you finish what you start  Grin

New photo hanging on the lovely Bugaboo1's wall! On page 3!

It's not actually crooked, my photography was shoddy.

And a little closer.

And here's Bugaboo1's pic as her's is better and shows the size as well!

Please let me know what you think.

3  My New Shrinky Addiction - Mostly Bugs in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Huff on: May 14, 2008 07:22:54 PM
Hi!  I'm new to the art of shrinking having received a pack of shrinky dinks from my wonderful partner in the Make a Friend Swap and I am already seriously, completely and totally addicted!  So now I'm combining 2 things I love, shrinking and bugs!

First I wanted to see how tiny I could get, so i drew some tiny bugs and stuff and shrunk them and now they're... well... tiny!
Here they are with my chubby thumb for scale.

Since then I can't stop playing with the stuff!  I've had successes and some spectacular failures, but the end result is these, which I made for a local exhibition called Tiny Treasures.  The drawings are copied from an insect anatomy book.

There's a Solitary Bee

A Mayfly.

And a Cicada that I have to redo as he fused to himself and got a bit mangled.  I'll still wear him though he can't be in the show.

I also let my 2 year old loose on a sheet and we cut them up, wrote his name on them and made Mother's Day key chains for the grandmothers and great grandmothers, must find the pics of those too.

Please let me know what you think!

4  Re: Make-A-Friend Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Huff on: May 13, 2008 03:31:10 AM
I've been blown away by everyone's last packages!  I can't believe how many quilts there have been!  And I love that Birdy hoody, so sweet!

Now it's my turn!  I got my final package from Bugaboo1 today and she has spoiled me again!  I feel so lucky to have made such a good friend on this swap and I know that we'll stay in contact, even though we're on opposite sides of the planet!

On with the goodies...please excuse the WIPs in the background, i think there's half a mitten and a heap of paper crafts there, oh and my Burda magazine.  My crafting is taking over the whole house!
Here's all the treats minus the large.

The book I have coveted for ages and crochet patterns to add to my kit from package 2!

Yarn!  Simply Soft, which you can't get here and some really soft bamboo. Plus a Fire Dept badge for my collection!

A learn to spin kit!  Yay!  I'm so excited about this!

And finally the large!  I love blankets, and this one matches my decor wonderfully!  It's so soft and heavy and snuggly.  And I fell asleep under it this afternoon so it works!!
For size comparison, that's a queen size bed.

And a close up of the cables and colours!

And here's what happened when I put it on the couch to unpack the rest of the box!

The hubby loves it too so it's got the whole family's seal of approval!

Thankyou so much Bug!  I just love everything!

Mawson is Home!  After major moving dramas all my stress disappeared when I opened the package!  KiwiDragons showed him a great time in Missouri!

Here's the whole lot!

My favourite of the tonnes of postcards!

Mawson modelling his special sweater, in his special beer glass!

Awsome little brag book!  This is the coolest idea, a fantastic little hardcover book full of Mawson's adventures! (Difficult to photograph lol!)

Scrap book, FULL of pics!

My favourite!

Looks like he had some great adventures!  Thanks for giving him such a memorable trip KiwiDragons!

20 may
Machida went to Melbourne today!  He saw lots of things, here are a couple

Look out Machida!  Giant Mario is going to stomp on you!  We went to the Game On Exhibition, hundreds of games from pong to atari's to Wii's to arcade games, and all playable!  I suck at space invaders and everyone knows because it's on a massive projector!

This is the gate to Government house.  After I'd taken the pics the guard came out of the gate house and asked all about Machida and even offered to take a picture of the two of us together.  How sweet!

28 May - Melbourne Zoo!
We had a great day at the zoo.  Machida met some kangaroos

And we visited the platypusary.  Now it might just be me but I think platypusary is one of the most hilarious words ever!

And Machida found the cutest little baby monkey!

31 May
Machida had a great time at my brother's engagement party tonight!  Smooched some pretty girls too! (My lovely cousins!)

1 June - 7 June
ROAD TRIP

Helping out with the driving.

Hanging out at the Thompson River Port in Sale.

Mad BBQ skills at my in laws.  Machida made us brunch!

Now I apologise but I'm going cutesie.  My 2 year old has really enjoyed having Machida to visit.  The other night he came to me saying "Take a photo, take a photo"  so I followed him to the dining room where he had set this up.

He really seems to get this whole concept!

Now that my computer is co-operating again I can get my pics in here!  Mawson and I have signed up!  He can't wait to leave and I can't wait to have a LV come to Australia to visit!  Anyone interested in a trip Down Under?

Here's Mawson

And his little buddy helping him look at all the wonderful LVs!

We're very excited about this trip!

Everyone's second packages have been awsome!  Such variety!  Here's mine... I received today and have been playing with everything ever since!  Bugaboo1 has spoiled me AGAIN with loads of wisty goodness.  My apologies for the big pics, I got excited!

The whole lot, and please excuse my washing in the background!

Fantastic Nolita knockoff that I greatly desired

A learn to crachet kit with hooks and a case and cotton and a book and the cleverest cards with instructions and actual crachet on them!

A knitting needle roll, I've needed one of these for the longest time, I started putting my needles in already, now I have to hunt around the house and find the rest of them.

And a mug and mug cozy, crochet ruffled purse that I just love, kool aid (I had so much fun dying with my first lot!) and shrinky dinks (Yay!)

And look!  It all fits in the bag, seriously this bag is huge!

And Yay! everything in my favourite colour!  Thanks again Bug, you're the best swap partner in history!

I got my package from Bugaboo1!!  It arrived very first thing this morning (Tues) and let me tell you I'm feeling spoiled!  On with the pics...

The whole lot still wrapped

Post cards from New York and the area where Bugaboo1 lives

Awesome photos of Buggy's house and other stuff in her area, I love the ferris wheel!

Tonnes of stationery!  We decided that we both use cards more that anything else, and I scored a heap of beautiful hand made cards with fabric and stitching and all kinds of fun!  Plus stickers and a cool stamp!

Show and tell!  Vanilla nut cream coffee, promptly stolen by the husband! 4 different flavours of kool-aid, I can't wait to have a go at dying with these, dark chocolate and M&Ms yummmy.  Lemon-heads, I ripped right into these they are fantastic!  And most especially Spiedie Sauce!  You use it to marinade your meat BBQ it and then serve it on italian bread, mmmmmmmm, can't wait to give this a go!

Then I really got spoiled!  There's an orange hat, red metallic thread crochet earrings, a donut pincushion and a little ring pincushion (tooo cute and very handy!), a needle book which I desperately needed, some peaches and cream yarn (really hard to get here!), and a gorgeous book cover (I put my current read straight in) it even has it's own bookmark! Here's the lot

Tiny pincushion

Book Cover in action

Action shot of hat and earrings (with no make-up and looking like a 12 year old! I swear i'm in my mid 20's!)

Thankyou so much for all this wonderful loot Bugaboo1!  I'm having a wonderful time with this swap and have made a fantastic friend as well!

9  Knotted Knecklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Huff on: February 23, 2008 03:20:28 AM
My best friend is moving to the UK (from Aus) at the end of next week which makes me very sad, so I made her a necklace, which made us both happy!

I knitted up some 'rope' and tied it in a double headed carrick knot.  There are so many beautiful knots around, I think I'll make some more stuff all knotty.  It fastens at the back with a loop and a button.
On with the pics...

and a close up

and an action shot (on me, not the new owner)

10  Re: The Long Awaited Poppet-Along in Craftalongs by Huff on: December 22, 2007 03:43:21 AM
Alrighty, everyone here is far to productive! Grin I'm in love with brown sparkly poppet, I think the blue hair too.

So, I finally got around to dressing my poppet, just in time to wrap her up.  Is is sad that I put air holes in the box so she could breathe?

Here's a close up of the top of her dress.

And here's a full length.

What do you think?

And last of all, I just wanted to wish all the poppeteers and poppets a happy and safe festive season! (Especially all those poppets going to new homes for christmas!)
