1  Fleece LGBT/SF Giants Beanie in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by soccerfren on: September 11, 2010 12:23:43 AM
I went through a very rough patch in my life and a friend I had made years earlier that I was out of touch with came to my rescue. She is a VERY proud San Francisco Giants (Major League Baseball) fan and very proud of being a lesbian. She helped me out a LOT (lost my career, had people speaking poorly of me, family issues, etc) and was exactly what I needed to get back on track. I consider her and my boyfriend my two angels here on earth because I went through an absolute hell.. anyway.. I decided (since I don't have a job) to make her something I knew she'd like.. so I made a beanie (she wears her hair either very very veryyyy short or with a mohawk and SF Giants games at AT&T park are COLLLD so I knew this would be a decent idea).. here's pictures (sorry taken with my palm pre camera because I was so anxious to show her):

It's actually not as squished as it might appear in the photo above.. (and I realized AFTER sewing it that the LGBT flag doesn't have TWO different blues in it.. whoops..)

and then the picture below is the side view-- before I added the rainbow/giants panel in the front:

I am SUPER proud and will be delivering it to her tomorrow.. I had scoured the 'net for any tutorial that fit my needs and ended up at Joann Fabrics buying Green Pepper Fleece Chullo Hat and adjusting it.. I added the mohawk-ish part and changed the length of it a bit..

Hope you like it Smiley

2  Portugal World Cup Cupcakes in Dessert by soccerfren on: June 22, 2010 10:03:10 AM
So being Portuguese and loving soccer pretty much guaranteed I'd be waking up at 4am to watch the last World Cup game (holy heck we won big). The night before my family and I were talking about how horrible the previous game's result had been so I decided to whip up some cupcakes for good luck. Smiley

I used a white cake mix and wanted more flavor so I used some Passionfruit/Mango/Orange juice/soda (instead of water) from Cost Plus World Market and grated some lemon peel into the batter. They taste GREAT. I was delivering them all day to family and friends. Smiley

Please excuse that the flag colors are BACKWARDs.. haha.. and they aren't quite perfectly lined up but it works. I just printed out a bunch of the Portuguese soccer federation logos and taped them to toothpicks.

Hope you like them!

(now I have to make USA cookies or Cupcakes for tomorrow's game!)
