1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Help with new bedroom please!! on: March 23, 2008 11:45:13 PM
Ok. So we are remodeling the house! HUGE undertaking!  Smiley
I get my own bathroom and bedroom. Which is SO cool.
For my bathroom I've all ready decided to do a french-country theme.
I was going to do a white and blue theme with lots of frills and feather and lace and a white faux fur rug. Something very powder roomish and girly. I still want to do something with that feel since my last bedroom looked like an Asian brothel. lol
So.........my problem is that I was going to have periwinkle walls and lot and lots of white. White furniture and everything. I really want a white iron bed with a portrait in oil paint mounted in the headboard. That is not going to happen though at this time. lol. So what I do have is very gorgeous dark cherry wood furniture. My bed is a wonderful big 4 post bed with no canopy. Does anyone have any ideas? My furniture just isn't going to work with what I had in mind. It is hard for me to change things since once I have a vision I know exactly how I want it.
So if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them!!!
These pics all are things I that could  be used for inspiration for my room. Love the feel.  Something retro and glamor is GREAT too.  I also love things like animal prints

I also love this last pic , but it's not as frilly as I would like....it is really cool though.

Ok...well hope that helps someone get some really great thoughts.  Grin
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Painting a box. on: November 24, 2007 12:03:39 AM
Forgive me if this belongs somewhere else. I just couldn't decide.

I am making some truffles for a party and need a way to transport them. I am planning on buying some boxes of some kind and them painting them and adding ribbons and things of that kind.

This may seem like a dumb question, but I just want to be extra sure. Is there any kind of paint I should NOT use. I will be placing each individual truffle in a mini muffin paper and then lining the box with tissue paper if that is ok. I just don't want to do something stupid. Is it ok to paint inside the box? The inside of boxes can look so ugly. Oh, I also need the pain to be fast drying since it is for the day after tomorrow.

Also any ideas would be appreciated. I am planning on painting one box black and pink. Smiley
I am making about 144 truffles of various kind.
Thank you in advance.
3  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Quick soap question on: October 20, 2007 02:43:37 AM
Ok..I'm going to start learning how to make soap...woot! My bf needs some soap for xmas and I found some good stuff online. I have one question though about a product. I am going to do melt and pour soap, and I found a website that has a creamy goats milk melt and pour base. Sounds cool....however, the website also has buttermilk powder as an additive. Now, goats milk is good for skin and helps keep skin soft..so does buttermilk. If I put the buttermilk powder in the goats milk base, will it make it ......uh....extra extra good for the skin. Will the soap be even better than just the goats milk buy itself, or should i just use the powder on a plain soap base. Will the positive effects of the buttermilk be lost since the goats milk base is allready doing the same thing. I hope this question makes sense. lol...
Well....crap another question...sorry for lying Smiley
I was reading that you need a preservative to make soap with milk...makes sense. Using a premade goats milk soap base, do I still need a preservative?Huh
4  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Need an Idea or 5 on: October 10, 2007 12:50:16 AM
Hi, my boyfriend's cat that he has had since he was 8 has disappeared about 2 weeks ago. The cat was around 14 years old or so, still healthy and walking, but we are both pretty sure it's not comming back Sad My bf is pretty heart broken since the cat lived at his parents house since his house that we live in wont allow any pets and his parents live about 1/2 hour away so he hasn't been able to see the cat very much recently.
So I want to make a guy appropriate scrapbook with his kitty Cloud. I don't believe he has many picture of Cloud, less than 15 I'd say. Maybe even less than 10. So it will be a mini one.
I'm going to sneak into his PC and email the pictures to my mom since she has a photo printer. There are too things I must include....how cloud got his name. (cloud was grey and my bf thought he looked liked a cloud) and where my bf found the kitty (he found cloud sitting in a box with another kitten.)
I want it to not be too frilly, but i like a lot of details in scrapbooking pages like embellishments. It also has to look boyish. I am also wanting the pages to be that paper that is very thick, almost like cardboard. Any ideas or anything?
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Spay paint scratching off on: May 18, 2007 02:17:21 AM
Hi, new here. I just had a quick question I was sure everyone here could answer easily. I have this gross plastic "thing" that is like a dresser for clothes. I was wanting to spray paint it so it didn't look so horrible. Last time I spray painted something is was the mini blinds in my bedroom. It looked great but the paint was prone to scratching off. Is there a way to stop this? Another spray? Sorry if this is easy or somewhere else, I have not seen this question. Thank you.
