1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help with new bedroom please!! on: March 27, 2008 07:52:14 PM
Hahaha, if I spray painted my very expensive solid wood bed my mother would put me in my grave! lol I can always put some white and light colours and lace with it and see what happens. Smiley I actually had this idea. I was thinking about painting a mural off trees in my room so it looks like you are walking in a forest. The sky would be a pale yellow that fades to a slightly darker yellow. Everything would be ashen to give the impression of....mmmmm....twil ight. Then put the blue of that dress in the second pic as a canopy over the bed. I may even do some horrible green carpet to  make my floor look mossy. Sounds very tacky, but I think if I actually go allll the way with it, it may work. Make some toadstools in there and other things.

Yeah. That would be really easy to do with the furniture that I have. Good idea.  Smiley

Ooh that toadstool stool sounds really cool. I wonder if I could find that online still. Thank you for mentioning it!
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: Ugliest kitchen of them all. Severe help needed... on: March 25, 2008 10:57:05 AM
I love a crisp white kitchen with blue accents. It just feels really clean to me. Even the more "rustic" kitchens. If there is white everywhere it feels refreshing.
I also personally love retro cutesy kitchens. Cherries, frilly aprons to match, etc etc.

Oh yeah. That second pic is probably my favorite out of the 3 Smiley
So maybe I can do my room in some kinda dark/faerie tale theme. i am a pixie....so maybe some kind of pixie land. Maybe even make some polymer clay toadstools.
Maybe dark furniture and lightness around it would be ok. I personally just feel kinda weird about it. Smiley
This will be very difficult for me since I tend to decorate darkly, literally. My last room was deep fire  engine red  on  every wall and the ceiling. Then all the trim was painted a metallic gold. I had Asian accents everywhere. It sounds tacky but it looked really cool. It was very dark though. lol

Oh yeah. We have LOTS of Goodwills around here. Great, except that they are becoming VERY over priced. More $$$ making mind set. I mostly buy new stuff now instead since it's only a hair more expensive.

Hmmm....gold leaf. That sounds like something I may enjoy!

I have to add that I love it. Everyone else does to. Must be because it is so FABULOUS!

Ok. So we are remodeling the house! HUGE undertaking!  Smiley
I get my own bathroom and bedroom. Which is SO cool.
For my bathroom I've all ready decided to do a french-country theme.
I was going to do a white and blue theme with lots of frills and feather and lace and a white faux fur rug. Something very powder roomish and girly. I still want to do something with that feel since my last bedroom looked like an Asian brothel. lol
So.........my problem is that I was going to have periwinkle walls and lot and lots of white. White furniture and everything. I really want a white iron bed with a portrait in oil paint mounted in the headboard. That is not going to happen though at this time. lol. So what I do have is very gorgeous dark cherry wood furniture. My bed is a wonderful big 4 post bed with no canopy. Does anyone have any ideas? My furniture just isn't going to work with what I had in mind. It is hard for me to change things since once I have a vision I know exactly how I want it.
So if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them!!!
These pics all are things I that could  be used for inspiration for my room. Love the feel.  Something retro and glamor is GREAT too.  I also love things like animal prints

I also love this last pic , but it's not as frilly as I would like....it is really cool though.

Ok...well hope that helps someone get some really great thoughts.  Grin
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Painting a box. on: November 24, 2007 05:50:08 PM
Well. Dang it. Now I have a new problem. I didn't realize that acrylic paint was so stinky! The box I painted a nice pink, but it just reeks of paint. Smells toxic. I can't put food in that. Is there something else you can use to decorate a cardboard food box? Or will the smell go away in a few hours an be ok to put chocolate in?
