1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / stationary swap? on: July 12, 2008 08:14:28 PM
Any stationary junkies out there who want to swap some of their stash?
And/or are there any folks who like to make stationary supplies?

I don't mean the formalized letterbox things, but just straight-up envelopes, postcards, notecards, etc.

Hmm??

2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / found item swap! on: July 04, 2008 08:33:44 AM
Hey all-
I keep finding all sorts of weird crap on the way to the subway each morning. And, I think there's great potential to have a fun swap centered on such amazing finds. Basically, my idea would be to create something with at least one found item. For example-if you found a picture, you would do something creative with it, or if you found a weird piece of glass, you could turn it into a pendant, or add it it in some way.

I'm thinking you can't really add "size" requirements to this since it's the nature of the swap, but we could have a "two piece" minimum and/or something like that.

-any takers?

3  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / Manhattan crafters Meet up? on: June 12, 2008 01:18:06 PM
Hey folks-
I just moved here with all my crafty crap, stamps and scissors and whatnot, and I haven't anyone to craft with, or point out all the cool little weird stores in which to buy things. I'm a teacher, and used to live in South Korea, and now live in upper manhattan.

I like hand sewing, stamping, making paper things, collage, painting, silkscreening, and fixing old crap up.

So, is there a meet up? OR just little groups scattered here and there, or none of the above?

Thanks ya'll.

4  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Anyone else in South Korea or Asia? on: May 18, 2007 06:53:02 PM
Hi there. I've always been kind of crafty, but lately I've been discovering the amazing new world of South Korean paper arts. Not just origami or whatever, but card-making, etc. etc. I also came from a kind of "punk rawk" background with spraypainted, stenciled T-shirts and do-it-yourself everything, so I'm really into recycled crafts, crafts made with unusual items (think: cd-case coasters, etc.) and love looking at all the pretties on here. I'm a 26-yr-old Okie (oklahoma, usa)..

I can't crochet (yet) but there's a group of old ladies who have stared at me every day who gather together at the park and knit and crochet. I want to learn how to embroider first though I think!

Basically- Hi! Anyone wanna be my friend, especially folks in Asia since that's where I'm at right now?
