Crafty_one also sent me some cool Aussie postcards!
I had my dog, Peanut model them, because she's illiterate but enjoys the pictures anyway:)
Also, this one from Wivenhoe Dam, which Deb (Crafty_one) explains is approximately 20-30 minutes west of Brisbane.
Thanks again for the really great postcards! I have fun learning about other parts of the world and love to use pictures like these in my class during random lessons on geography and culture similarities/differences
Hey, I am so glad that you enjoyed the postcards! I know a lot of folks collect unique stuff, so I included a lot of things I've picked up from my travels.... and I am happy to know they went to a good home
Here are my postcards from Amy + from sarcastra. I really love the Rosie the Riveter postcard and I used to have a shirt bearing the same image, but it was literally, worn out! Also, the Texas armadillo--always a happy, welcome sight
I took a day trip and when I arrived home--my package from Automaton J was here! Look at what she put inside:
I have to preface all this by saying she did a great job and I really love the potholder that she almost kept (I wouldn't have blamed you, my dear, it's freaking awesome!) I also really really dig the little sewn pocket and the book cover. It's all amazing, really, and I can't wait to wear the little panda earrings somewhere fancy.
I can't bear to think of using these as real erasers--they'll stay on my shelf for now:
Finally I got my package from SallyB! It was so sad when the post office apparently sent back my waiting package to Australia! I still have no idea what happened, but here is all of the lovely, lovely stuff that she sent. I am incredibly impressed with all of the stuff and feel overwhelmed !
First, the lovely handmade stuff: (including two book/notebook covers & a bad-a** boom box zipper pouch:
And next, some delicious drink mixes and sweets (minus the natural jelly beans, which I ate upon seeing!)
And, a new lunchbox and magnets and a calculator that sticks to things!
ANd, last but not least, a variety of super-hero stickers and stuff!
I received yesterday from Sarahmakes! I love the fabric portfolio--it's so neat and tidy, unlike my ailing set of folders. I am posting pictures, although I know they don't do her handiwork justice. Overall, here's what I got:
A fabric portfolio with 8 pockets! seen here closed and opened:
Also, handmade thumbtacks: , A fantastic set of bookmarks--god do I need these!
And some tea-always welcomed. Oh, and a nice letter. Unfortunately I didn't get to wrap up my stuff like I'd wanted to, but I hope that Ms. Sarahmakes enjoys all the goodies and can use them, much like I look forward to enjoying her trade. Thanks again Sarahmakes!
I got my AMAZING Haul from Barbolot today! I feel completely 100% spoiled! She included a beautiful messenger bag using reclaimed/recycled fabrics-even black denim and the bag features interior pockets for my ever-lost pens! Also, check out her second-time-ever stencil of a typewriter. It's pretty amazing and I LOVE typewriters, so I was charmed and my smile still stretches across my face looking at this bag! She also made me a great vintage/japanese fabric insulated lunch sack! I was impressed enough with the bag, but my god-the lunch sack is cute-cute-cute and perfect for a sandwich and other goodies. She also included a huge load of cool vintage recipe cards and a neat bookcover-thing and last but not least, some handmade journals, one made from a Lovin' Spoonfuls album!
She is amazing and creative and I owe so many thanks to Barbolot. I have to say this has been the most amazing swap I've participated in yet! (Now I feel sheepish and wish my packaging and pictures could do Barbolot justice!)
God ya'll. I'm so glad the stuff arrived to Sumi. I was worried none of it would arrive from my silly continent.
Anyway, this swap has been a blast. Need to post my stuff I got a red hat, gloves, yellow-hand made scarf (coming in handy as of lately too!) and I received a hand-painted picture of a sunset with a rasta man/thing relaxing and I also received a shirt, and two necklaces and a bracelet.
so here is my long-overdue posting of photographs and goodies by tindad. She was a lovely swap partner and made me a couple of kick-ass t-shirts, some notecards and a really lovely tote with a center pocket for my keys and bus pass
below is the photograph of my favorite shirt, which reads: mommy, when I grow up I want to help smash teh white racist, homophobic, patriarchial, bullshit paradigm too!
