1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Figuring out how much to make for a show on: January 09, 2016 01:47:48 PM

I hope the link is OK.  I've been pondering the question of how to figure out how much stock I need to make to take to a show beyond the 'as much as you can make' standard.   I've come up with a couple ways to try and estimate maximum number of sales possible to try and put a cap on the amount needed to take.  I've posted it on my blog.

2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Completed Projects / Bearooshnikov Brother on: January 07, 2016 12:04:35 PM

Finally getting my digitizing mojo back.  This is the test stitch of my latest design, a small bear.  His brothers are going to be bigger and I think that some of them might just insist on wearing a tutu.  There are a few more gents on the way.  I'll post when I get them stitched out.

The Details.  Drawn by me.  Digitized using Stitch Era Design.  Stitched on fleece with fleece applique.  Approximately 5.5 inches tall.

By the way...I can't get any pictures to load using the craftster photo hosting.  It looks like I have some old photo gummed up in processing.

Well shoot.  It shows up in preview.  I'll go start a ticket.
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / A Snow Bird's Chance on: December 01, 2015 09:21:42 PM

This one is my last off-season Project Quilting Challenge project.  The prompt this time was to be inspired by the snowball block.  I found these fabrics in a lovely shop in Florida.  Thus the reference to snowbird.  I don't like snowball blocks.  I didn't want to make them but I found the gorgeous Urban Threads design for the center and was off and running.  It also measures 20 x 20 inches.  It is made of quilter's cotton.  I used an embroidery design snowflake for the quilting.
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / No Name Nine Patch on: December 01, 2015 09:17:56 PM

This one doesn't have a name.  It is also a response to a Project Quilting prompt.  It measures 20 inches by 20 inches.  Those are half inch squares in the center!  I bought all the fabrics except the cherrywood turquoise at a lovey shop in Huntsville, AL  And I photographed it on the beach in Florida.
5  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Georgia's Cabin on: December 01, 2015 09:13:07 PM

Its about time I caught up on posting the few quilts I've actually managed to make this year.

This is from July.  It is called Georgia's Cabin and was made in response to the off season "Focus through the prism" challenge of Project Quilting.  It is made of quilter's cotton, is machine quilted and measures 20 inches by 20 inches.
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Slow and Steady Gets it Done on: June 20, 2015 09:23:18 AM

This quilt was started as part of Project Quilting Season 6.  It was the last challenge and due sometime in March.  Didn't make it.  But I kept picking it up and doing a bit more.

It is finally done. It has bits of linen to give it some texture and a flannel back to make it cozy.  It is 24 x 36 inches.

7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Hayduke's Cabin on: June 01, 2015 12:14:21 PM
I finished a thing!

The #PQ off-season challenges are to use a specific set of colors, one per month and create a 20 x 20 inch quilt following using a specific block as inspiration. For May, I choose orange.  The inspiration block was Monkey Wrench.

Whenever I hear the phrase Monkey Wrench, I immediately think of Edward Abbey's book "The Monkey Wrench Gang".  Haduke is the main character, thus the title of my quilt.

This project is turning out to be a blast.  The inspiration block for June is the Friendship star.  I'm thinking blue for the color selection and thinking true blue... but who knows how that will turn out.  Stay tuned.

8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Completed Projects / MONSTERS! on: May 06, 2015 06:18:43 PM

And another project digitized by me!  MONSTERS.  Most have hearts. Some have little robots.  I'm still deciding if I want to make pockets.

About 6 inches tall.  Digitized using Stitch ERA Universal.  Made of fleece.
9  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Completed Projects / llama! on: May 04, 2015 10:41:28 AM

Here is another stuffie. This one is a llama.  I have been looking for animal shapes that are easily identified to make into stuffies.  As always, this one was digitized using the Stitch Era Universal software and is constructed of fleece.  It is about 7 inches tall.
10  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Completed Projects / Eggs! It is about time those chickens started pulling their weight around here on: April 29, 2015 06:21:48 PM

I have been having entirely too much fun digitizing and making in-the-hoop stuffies.  These little eggs crack me up.

They are 3-4 inches tall and made of fleece.  I use Stitch ERA Universal for digitizing.
