1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: 50 Projects 2014--Let's continue the craftiness! on: August 31, 2014 07:35:51 PM
I think I am about 100 pages behind.  I won't catch up anytime soon.  I'm sure there is amazing crafting going on to fill so many pages.  I'll start updating my list soon but here is one that I managed to post.
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Microbrewery Grain Bag Messenger Bag on: August 30, 2014 06:51:22 PM

Members of my family run a couple microbreweries.  They sent me a box full of grain bags.  I am upcycling them into bags and things.  This is a prototype for a messenger bag.

I need to mess with the proportions a bit but I do like how the round flap came out.  It currently doesn't have a closure.  Does it need one?  Magnetic? Button?  Velcro?  Suggestions please.

More pics on my blog.  http://twasbrilligand.blogspot.com/2014/08/prototype.html

Too many pages behind to comment individually.  Amazing work all.  An welcome aboard to the newbies!  I think you'll like it around here.
5  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Scalloped Border Lunacy! on: June 27, 2014 11:47:04 AM
Thanks all.  The trick to the scallops is taping together pieces of paper until you get a strip equal to the length of the side of the quilt.  Then you start folding it in halves or thirds or whatever until you get a good size scallop, draw your curve, cut it out and trace it onto the fabric.

I made my strip match the long side, folded 'out'  a section to make it the same length as the short side and then made the size of the scallops equal to the folded out section.   Drew the short sides, unfolded for the long side and it worked out remarkably well.
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: 14 Quilt Projects in 2014 Quilt Along! on: June 26, 2014 07:24:10 PM

Finally, a finish.  I've been wrestling this one for a bit.

I've been trying really hard to resist any new fabric.  I've been trying to limit myself to backings needed to finish projects and small bits necessary for projects for the shop.  But some things do end up sneaking in.  Worst of all, I am headed back to the most amazing primitive quilt shop I've ever been to.  I resisted all the charm packs and mini charms and bolts and yards and projects the first time.  I don't know if I will survive my second visit.  But, the pattern my friend ordered has arrived and she needs some one to ride along.  Who would leave a friend to go shopping by herself?  Certainly not me.
7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Scalloped Border Lunacy! on: June 26, 2014 07:17:31 PM

It is finished!  This was a charm pack stashed away and awaiting a project.  Once I stitched it together it wanted a scalloped border.

That, of course meant figuring out some sort of quilting pattern to fill said scallops that wouldn't push me beyond my FMQ skills.

It turned out better than I'd hoped.  I certainly learned a lot on this one.

Gorgeous quilt.  Beautiful smile.

Good for you.  It is a lovely quilt.  I'd have cranked the AC and done the same.

Absolutely A-W.  Pressing the seams open and then lining up the little corner tabs made it work well.
