21  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: The Vegetarian Gene?! + Polenta Pancakes w/ Avocado on: February 11, 2009 03:41:22 PM
that looks delicious.
How do you think it would be with Soymilk instead? Some recipes are funny and if you substitute it doesn't always taste good.

I doubt there is a vegetarian gene. haha...My parents freaked out more when  said I wanted to be a veggie than they did when I said I was an atheist.... NO ONE in my family is or ever was vegetarian. ha...
wow....living in the deep south can be fun sometimes.
I am upset too. My boyfriend's sister wanted to try being vegetarian for a while but her mom refused and got mad. Their mother loves me and has never had a problem with me, but it really bothers me that she wouldn't let her at least try it.

I made my boyfriend one. We have been together 2y 9m. I don't have many pics of the beginning of the relationship but he bought me a camera for christmas so I have a lot of recent ones.
It was really easy to make and VERY cheap. You just have to buy the paper and I used stuff I had lying around to embellish mine. You can buy sticker sheets for like a dollar if you want to add them in.
I also made him another 50 reasons book and I am going to make him some of his favorite cookies.
I want to rent a movie and spend the day at home.

Make him his favorite cookies?
OR
A cookie cake. Grin

You could do the cheesy stuff. A jar full of "hugs and kisses"
a scrapbook...

have fun with it. I feel my bf likes his gifts more when I have put some effort into them. We have been together 2y 8m and he still loves my crafty gifts more.

25  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: V-day in a box for my drummer fiance? on: February 01, 2009 10:55:47 AM
hmm, not sure about the whole drummer part. MY bf is a guitarist. lol....
maybe some of that skin in a bottle stuff or some bandaids. I know his drummer is always messing up his hands. Or some lotion?
CHEESE!? yumm...cheese and honey are the reason I am not vegan. You could put in a block/ wedge of his favorite cheese wrapped with a card that says "this is the cheesiest way I could think of to say I love you. "
I saw that somewhere and thought it was adorable.
Pictures are always good. Scrapbooks.

This is what I am making for my boyfriend.

It is really easy and fun. Grin
26  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: New BF gift HELP!!! on: February 01, 2009 10:22:04 AM
That souns like a really good idea. My suggestion would be to make some and leave them blank, so he can fill in whatever he wants. I made my bf a coupon book when he went to college. It had naughty things in it and he hasn't actually used any of them, lol. That was months ago. Smiley

So you could also stick to simple cheesy gifts. Go on a romantic date and then see what happens afterwards. You could always just tell him that whenever he is ready so are you.
27  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: And another 52 reasons book on: January 29, 2009 06:19:36 PM
I LOVE it. I was just on here looking for ideas for my boyfriend. He is also Welsh. I love the cards. I think he has a set like that somewhere. I think I will make another 50 reasons book this year. Smiley
28  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Re: Matching bowls and cups on: January 04, 2009 07:57:46 PM
Great job. I wish I could throw that well.
I am starting my second pottery class Wednesday. I a terrible on the wheel. I want to make some new bowls and cups though because my bf and I are moving in together after I graduate in May. All of my stuff comes out lop-sided. I would love to make a dutch oven type thing for making soup and roasting veggies...
Any tips?
29  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Soy milk problems... on: December 13, 2008 12:44:23 PM
Try using rice milk in your cereal and coffee.  Grin
I use rice milk in my cereal. It is a bit like skim milk. Less thick than soy milk but still delicous.
My dad is allergic to white milk. He can drink all the chocolate milk he wants and eat cheese but no white milk.
It might be the way it is made or something....

Saturday night: my bf took me to O'Charley's and they made a special vegetarian meal for me.It was rice with steamed asparagus, broccoli, and carrots. Plus those yummy rolls..and a baked potato. Then on the way home we were in a car wreck so all of my leftovers I was holding flew everywhere and there is now rice in his air system....but he is going to have a new car so it doesn't matter.

Sunday: I microwaved a morningstar veggie burger and had some fries. I really didn't want it, but I had to eat something. Plus I had a coupld of mini cinnamon bins my dad made.

Tonight: I don't know yet, hopefully something light... Huh
