11  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Felt advent calendar on: December 29, 2010 04:11:07 AM
This advent calendar is a present I made for my parents - remarkably, I finished it just a week AFTER December 1st... So that's why the first 6 sweets were missing when I gave it to them on December, 7th  Grin

Empty...

... And full of sweets

Here you can see the little peg with a glittery felt star glued on it to mark the day

And a detail of the embroidered numbers (it was the first time I embroidered anything, so it took me forever)

Here is a WIP photo

I'm going to add some polymer clay and\or felt decorations for next year (I really didn't have the time to do it this year  Grin)

C&C welcome!

Thanks

Thank you! Your tutorial is great!
After stabbing my fingers an embarrassing number of times, I finally got to make a ball! Well, almost. It's still sort of mushy but it definitely looks like a ball.  Grin Grin Grin
I'll keep trying! Grin
Thanks again

18  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / A box for my engagement guitar! (more or less :) ) on: June 22, 2010 01:01:17 PM
I'm getting married in September. He gave me the wedding ring in January in a cute, little, black, velvet-covered ring box. Awww.

Since he is a musician AND a huge Paul Gilbert fan, I decided to give him a particular guitar as an engagement present, which is a limited edition signature model by - guess who - Paul Gilbert. (a PGM90HAM, if any of you are Ibanez lovers)

Ok, nothing crafty by now.

Now, everyone knows that a proper engagement present MUST be held in a cute, little, velvet-covered box. If the above-mentioned present is guitar-sized, you might have a slight problem. Luckily, the above-mentioned guitar-sized present came with a A4-sized certificate of authenticity, so no one could stop me from making my own cute, not so little, velvet-covered box  Grin

With the cooperation of one of his best men and lot of time, glue, adhesive tape, cardboard, adhesive tape, foam rubber, fabric, adhesive tape, two pivots, wooden sticks and some more adhesive tape later...

The boxes together with the guitar (I don't know why it looks so dark, it's actually blue)

The completed box, compared with my ring box

(I'm particularly proud of the rounded edges, made with empty toilet paper rolls. How incredibly romantic!!! Cheesy )

The closed box

Some in-progress photos

He LOVED his present (I assure you, under that black spot he looks really happy Grin )

I know it's just a box, but maybe because of how much it meant to me I loved making it! And I love how it turned out!

Thanks for looking Smiley
