1  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Jojoba Oil on: May 23, 2008 02:16:02 AM
What is Jojoba oil good for? I bought some intending to make a shower gel then got given a lovely one, so what else can I use it for? Any tips/ideas?
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Sewing Pattern (Beccs 88, do not read!) on: May 23, 2008 02:04:35 AM
Hi I have had to be late on a swap because my machine broke down - gotta love the timing. So i want to make it up to my partner with some very special items, including something from her wist list;

Can anyone point me in the direction of a pattern, bought or free, for something like this:

I'll be so grateful if you can!
3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Broken Sewing machine on: May 07, 2008 05:20:15 AM
I have an Elna 3210 and it's pretty new. Now the bottom thread and the bobbin keep sticking, literally i press the foot and it just buzzes rather than sewing anything. There is thread stuck in the bit leading to the other needle (sorry for all the technical terms) and some in a tiny hole at the bottom of the bobbin case, which I have been trying to dig out. I have two swaps due, both for clothing  - I would hand sew but i'm not good enough at it and I don't want to send either partner dodgy goods. Any reccomendations?

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Making rings on: March 02, 2008 01:47:49 AM
I bought a gorgeous enamel flower brooch ages ago, a broken one, because I wanted to make it into a ring. I've had this for over a year and can't find a ring base to affix it to! Any suggestions/links please?
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Swap Journal on: February 29, 2008 03:24:19 PM
EEEEEE this is the first handmade book i've made in about three years so it isn't perfect, but I think (hope!) it will be appreciated. I cut the cover from canvas board. Then I machine sewed four cotton squares together with another in the centre for decoration. I glued this onto the front board, folded it over teh edge, glued that then used a sheet of strong sticky backed plastic to cover the board and hold the cloth securely. I did the same for the back.

To do the pages i machine sewed them in batches of six/seven, then machine sewed two batches at a time together. Then I stapled those batches together and attached them to the cover.
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Giant Pearl Necklace on: January 27, 2008 01:56:02 AM

I've wanted a giant pearl necklace for ages, but the cheapest one i saw was 82!!!!!!!!!! so i finally amnaged to get some 20mm pearl beads, put them together with some pearl spacers and filigree beads. Altogether with the parcel string i used to  string them on cost me 12 - a damn sight less than the Jaeger version!
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / African Print Skirt on: January 27, 2008 01:52:01 AM

This is a a-line skirt done on a sewing machine made from African fabric. It';s the first item i've made myself that I actually think is brilliant lol, despite having to alter the usual pattern as there wasn't enough of teh fabric.
9  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Shredder Paper on: May 20, 2007 02:17:42 PM
