1  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Bead it Forward for Breast Cancer 2008 Quilt on: August 23, 2007 05:52:33 PM
Donation project where each participant makes and donates a 1.5 X 1.5 BEADED square.

The squares will be sewn into a beaded quilt and the quilt auctioned off. All the money from the auction is given to breast cancer research.

This is not the first year for this. The 2007 project is already complete and can be seen via the link.

Beaded squares for 2008 have the theme "Roses" and are not due until April 1, 2008. Plenty of time for procrastinators to get one done.

2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Embroidered Fabric ATC's--Birds on: July 02, 2007 06:12:55 PM

These are done on painted silk. I used Audubon prints for inspiration then made them more "design" like. My original plan was to use blanket stitch to render the feathers, but it was too coarse looking. Chain and fly stitch gave me more of the look I was hoping for.

Thank you for looking.

3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Orange Theme 4x4 LMAO on: June 18, 2007 07:10:42 PM
I have not posted images of any of my art since joining. But, I was so pleased with the look of these that I wanted to share.

These are 4x4's (inches) that are used as pages in a fat book. Recipients (the other swappers) collect the pages and put them together into whatever format they prefer. This is the orange page for a rainbow series. We are going through all the colors one swap at a time. At the end everyone will have a full complement of color themed pages to make a fat book, or whatever.

The background is habotai silk painted with acrylic mediums. I then incorporated embroidery and beads for detail. This is pretty typical of my mixed media work and dominates how I like to work currently. BTW, the painted silk is a dream to work with.
