11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Asia is more than Japan swap on: September 03, 2007 02:56:25 PM
Pictures as promised
I get to be the first one to post my loot.

My partner is Scottskipper
This is what she sent me.

This is the super cool, and very curious outside packaging. I am lothe to just throw it away. So, it is still on my dining table.

Jewelry! earrings, one pair made with real jade. The other with Photos of Indian women. They click lovely together when both paris are worn at the same time. The bracelet has matching jade beads. The oblong green item is a bottle opener. You guys remember bottle caps, right?

My son modeling the apron. He was only willing to do this if I didn't show his face. He looks here like he has just been busted and is about to be frisked. She also sent the shirt. And Mr teenage "fashion" critic does like Asian style patterns--considers it a "personal" style, LOL.

Pillow cases. Scottskipper used batik patterned fabric for these. Pretty stuff, isn't it?  My son stole off with the orange one as soon as they arrived--cheeky brat. He is also holding two pair of chopsticks. Both of us do like to use chopsticks. And they are hard to find in were we live.

I am grateful to Scottskipper for her thoughtful choices. We will enjoy all these for some years to come.
12  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Asia is more than Japan swap on: September 01, 2007 12:35:04 PM
Mine is packaged and will be mailed Tuesday. I forgot that Monday is a holiday in the US-thus the post offices are closed. I have PM'd my partner with an update.

Also, I have received from scottskipper--yesterday. See the other thread. I work weekends so the pictures will be uploaded to this gallery Monday.
13  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Asia is more than Japan Swap: Signups CLOSED. Send out by August 25. on: September 01, 2007 12:30:48 PM
I received from scottskipper yesterday.
I work weekends, so I will post photos of what she sent Monday.

Both my son and I are thrilled with all the wonderful goodies she sent. My son promptly absconded with two of the items. I had to go get them back to take pictures.
I don't know how swap partners figure things out, but she sent stuff I have been wanting and needing. That, and, can anyone have too much jewelry? I mean really?

I will leave the rest of my comments for the gallery.
Thank you kittenwrangler for being our host(ess).

Well, some of the pictures are out of focus--but the tute is very well done. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

16  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Steampunkilicious: gear rings (picture heavy) and a necklace or two. on: August 28, 2007 04:08:03 PM
These are way cool. I like these a lot.
I wish I had a stash of gears and "parts".
17  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: Probably the worst Craft experience thus far... on: August 28, 2007 03:50:04 PM
Whew! Having read your story I feel silly worrying over my last SNAFU. It was nothing like yours. No injuries, no pain, no damage--just an error in measuring that caused me to have to remake.

Thanks for the perspective, LOL Cheesy
18  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Fixing yucky yellow armpit stains on: August 28, 2007 03:41:09 PM
I have read that making a paste of ammonia and detergent, scrubbing it into the stains and letting it sit for a short while, then washing might work.

I wish I had a recipe for you on how much of this to mix with how much of that and leave on for how long. But I lost track of those details. Sorry.

Have you tried checking on marthastewart.com?
She had a guest on once that showed the method I mentioned above.

Well, one of us--me--screwed up and had to remake; which put me behind. I am sure there will be a swap gallery up in time for me to post there. I am feeling quite relieved too, now.
20  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: Using metallic thread is like kicking Mr T in the face... on: August 28, 2007 02:13:56 PM
Appreciate the advice timeless.
I have done the opposite--only used it for hand sewing, never for machine (yet).
