1  Re: Music that changed my life swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by mellyp on: October 10, 2010 12:07:20 PM
i received from my partner miss barbara and boy, was it a lovely package! she included a note explaining how she listened to each of the songs i chose and what they made her think of and feel...and how she came to craft each piece. it was such a great way to go about this swap - and it really made me appreciate the thought that went into each item.

record bowls (i've never seen a small one before!) the rainbow in the large bowl is a nod to a lyric in one of the songs...i love that kind of little detail:

i have been wanting a wind chime but i didn't actually tell her that, look at the lovely one she made me - crafted from a 45 (record). another of my song picks made her think of the sound of chimes blowing in the wind:

and my favorite, the beautiful pillow that matches my living room perfectly. i wish you could see how saturated the colors really are.

a close up of the patchwork (she really paid attention to my favorites list) and the verigated rainbow thread!

this was a really good swap, i'm so happy to have been connected with such a thoughtful partner - thanks so much miss barbara - you did a great job!

2  Re: Birds birds birds Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by mellyp on: September 17, 2009 07:44:21 PM
hi all - taloola received from me so i am posting the goods i sent.

mini art quilt - measurements are probably about 8"x6"

back of the quilt

i also made 3 lavender filled sachets with some of the same fabric, but this is a close up of the fabric print i made using a stamp, ink, and heavy cotton

i also made 2 large marble magnets using vintage bird ephemera and i enclosed some non-handmade goodies - a tin bird and some bird loteria cards. unfortunately i didn't get a shot of any of that, hopefully taloola can post later...

i had such a great time with this swap, it really inspired me and i am proud to say i didn't buy anything - everything i made was stuff i already had in my stash, including the packing materials and the box Smiley

3  Re: Project Runway Online Challenge Submission in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by mellyp on: July 30, 2008 07:56:36 PM
i'm a little tardy but i wanted to submit, at least on craftster, what i came up with for challenge #1. i gave myself a $25 budget and i shopped at my local long's drugstore. my supplies were shelf liner, an ironing board cover, stretchy headbands, and a bbq tent...(i still don't know what the proper usage for this item would be, do you really 'tent' your bbq with a piece of highly flammable mesh and lace?!?!) anyhow! let me know if you have any questions about what i came up with. thanks for looking!

4  Re: Amelie Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by mellyp on: February 24, 2006 04:28:39 PM
hubyoed has confirmed she received from me and i am too anxious to wait for her to post photos! these are taken with my camera phone so they may not be great, hopefully she can post better pictures later.

i lined a large red canvas bag with some red and wt. polkadot fabric (did you know this is nearly impossible to find? i went to 4 different stores before i found it!) - amelie wears mostly red in the movie but the only print she ever wears is polka dots! she also has a red and white polka dot umbrella and that was what inspired me.

and i made her a photobook like nino's - it's covered in green and blue paisley fabric with some trimmings. i had been wracking my brain trying to figure out how to do the book when i by chance found a book of postcards from Chronicle Books with actual photo booth images...so effing RAD. it was perfect and perfect timing as well.

front of book:

some page detail:

even a little piece of me!:

hubbyoed has a 2nd small package coming her way as well, it's just some extra fun.

5  Love shrine! in Valentine's Day by mellyp on: February 21, 2006 04:55:52 PM
this is my first photo post although i've been a member for a long time - these photos were taken with my camera phone so the lighting is not great, but you get an idea.

the box held mints in it's previous life. i used acrylic paint, glitter paint, mod-podge, a loteria card and red plastic rhinestones. the inside is a photo of my boyfriend and myself and the wording is "en fuego". this was his valentine's present and he loves it - i'm so happy to have an appreciative craft recipiant  Smiley

thanks for looking!
