thanks butter_fly! all there is to it is a pre-made bird house (i bought this one for 4.99 @ Michael's) then pulling out one of the many golden books you may have on hand, cut out the pages & mod podge them onto the bird house. then glue the book base onto the roof. i did several mod podge coats then several more clear sealer coats. a super fast & easy project.

I've seen these easy little bird houses on a few crafting blogs & as well for sale over the years & I wanted a fast & easy craft. The instant gratification kind. I had to choose between Peter Cottontail or the Pokey Puppy. Peter won out.



you can see at the top i had to add another piece & thought i'd go with more text...which shows that it doesn't match. but it's not as noticible in person.




still have several coats of mod podge to go, but wanted to share it now.

I too love the fabrics you chose. Those keep catching my eye when I see them in the store. I've been wondering what I can do with them. I like your apron pattern, very cute. I too am over 40 and just getting interested in increasing my sewing skills, so you aren't the only one!

I love it!  I have a skirt made out of the skull fabric and have been toying with buying the cherry fabric.  I'm going to look for the apron pattern as I want to make myself a new one and that style is so pretty.

i really loved the skull fabric, not just the print but for the feel & the drape. i may just have to make a skirt out of it for my daughter's 22nd bday coming up!

i wanted to make something for my best friend of over 25 years. she really is the epitome of a best friend and deserves a homemade gift from the heart.
this pattern was a bit out of my league, but i really learned a lot.
this was my first real sewing project. i've made a taggy, a pillow case & a few stuffies at this point in my sewing career. i really wish I had learned this when I was younger, but no shame in learning anything new even after 40. this was my first time following an actual pattern.
i sewed my first darts, did gathering & made bias binding. i'm very proud to have completed it. Well….almost completed it. My machine died as I was topstitching the halter straps, but really wanted to post it anyway. I will have to hand stitch the rest so I can mail it off.
