Hi there Craftsters... I need a bit of advice. I'm thinking of investing in a knitting machine, mainly to make illusion knit scarves. I understand there are programmable knitting machines out there, but are they just for intarsia? Or can they cope with knits and purls needed for illusion knitting?

Hello Craftsters! Here is a top I have made over this cold weekend, using two old knitted cardigans. I'm more of a knitter who wants to sew, so I have no idea about patterns, cutting or sewing. I used a drawing on newspaper as a basis, but it's fairly freeform and loose fitting.

Jacky, I felt like it was all a bit of a joke. Stop climate chaos? We were there ten days and it was only at the end of the festival (Wednesday) we realised the full extent of the waste. It was like apocalypse, we picked our way through thousands and thousands of pounds worth of new tents, brand new camping equipment and clothes just bought for this one event and abandoned. I have never seen anything like that in my life.

It's shameful, isn't it? I saw so many people just kicking off their wellies and leaving them when getting into their cars. I know most festivals have recycling teams to gather up tents, camping equipment etc. I can't believe how many people treat these items as disposable! How much use will a charity find for a flimsy tent that cost a tenner in Tesco?

We have a similar problem with clothing donations in the shops, because fast fashion from Primark, George, New Look (and so on) is really poor quality.

Oh well, I'm off to Latitude this weekend, wonder if Mean Fiddler will have better organisation for mini-Glasto?

I was volunteering for Oxfam as a steward They had some amazing clothes in the shops, I think they save up all the best clothing donations throughout the year. I've volunteered in an Oxfam shop for the past couple of years, and seeing all the waste (broken/dirty donations) made me start crafting, as I hate to throw it all away!

I went to Lost Vagueness on Sunday afternoon, and there were lots of women dragging ruined evening gowns and wedding dresses through the mud.

Hope you got a chance to wear your dress between all the Glasto rain. Even my 'waterproof' was soaked!

Did you see any of the amazing craft in the Green Fields?

They look great! I've recently started making these from the stack of old magazines left behind by a former housemate. Do you use scissors or something more technical?

I love Alexander Henry fabric and shift dresses, so it's a definite winner for me.

I don't have any suggestions, sorry, but I do live in Sheffield!
