Thirding the request for a pattern...I love this, the chunky cables are just my speed.

Adding to the "this rocks, I want the pattern" commentary!

Don't say "nothing special"! You knit a sweater, that's special in and of itself.

What magazine/book/site did you get the pics from?  Those are beautiful garments, and i would LOVE to make those, it's just i really suck at clothes,  but my sister has a bunch of books and stuff that i can look through!
Nathalie

I actually just got them off of doing a Google Image search, so I have NO idea what web site for either unfortunately. Bad on my part, sorry.

I have 2 I have done, both free.  They aren't tie front, but they could easily be adapted, and the patterns are easy to customize.  They are Coats & Clark, the ruffle shrug and the ripple shrug.

OH COOL, thank you! I really like the ruffle shrug but alas, it's something for my mother who would only wear a tie front.

My mother would LOVE this, she wears these tie front shrugs ALL the time over tanks b/c she doesn't like her upper arms showing. I know if I made her one she'd wear it (though unfortunately, she'd probably only like it in boring black)...but anyway, it's probably easy enough or there is likely a similar pattern online somewhere (free please)...but I can't find it if so.

HELP! Thanks so much, in advance.

(and while I'm at it...how about this? possible to make or find a similar pattern?):
19  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Anyone make LB's Elegant Shell top??? on: November 17, 2007 09:53:23 PM
Hi All...

I want to make Lion Brand's "Elegant Shell" top for my mother as a Xmas present, pattern here: http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/60579.html.  She said she is a size Medium, but I'm not sure for this top. I know the lace pattern will stretch, but she's a 36D boobage and has a bit of a tummy and hips. THOUGHTS???

Also, b/c I SUCK at gauge, please help me out if possible. I'm using LB Cotton Ease and for some aggravating reason I can't get the gauge swatch right...it keeps going into a circle. The gauge is based on the V-stitch Pattern (dc, ch1, dc + 3dc in next st) and when I start it off of my foundation chain for a gauge swatch, it just forms a circle. I am not a novice crocheter so maybe I'm just too tired to start a project this late at night, but I'm frustrated and would appreciate any help.

I know gauge depends mostly on my personal crochet tension as well as hook size and yarn used, of course, but should an H hook and the LB Cotton Ease do the trick for the medium?

Thanks in advance!
20  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / What to make with my RHSS Cherry Chip - YUMMMM!!! on: November 15, 2007 04:16:44 PM
Just thought I'd get some opinions...

I have 3 skeins of the awesome-colored Cherry Chip colorway:

That pic doesn't show the chocolate brown mixed it but it's the best pic I could find. I love these colors and was thinking that something like a market bag would be nice for it, but I don't have a need for anything that holey and openwork...SO, any suggestions? I don't want to make anything wearable with it since RHSS is scratchy (and worse lately, right?) but I want to make something that I'll really use...and I use tote bags like that all the time.

THANKS!
