1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Overalls to dress (3 images) on: May 13, 2007 05:33:10 AM
I definitely have the refashioning bug. Lucky I have a big bag of our old clothes to work from but it is oh sooo tempting to go goodwill shopping for stuff that is new to me.

Here are the overalls about a year ago, before they got too short.

& as a dress.

To remake them; I cut the legs off just before the snaps started and then undid the bit where the crotch starts to curve so I could sew it down straight. With the leg pieces, I cut the snaps off and cut the leg pieces in half and then pieced them in to one long strip. Then I pleated the strip on to the bottom of the overalls.

So far, my daughter has worn them for a whole day without trying to take them off -- which is a clothing record for us Smiley
2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Dress to ra-ra skirt (4 images) on: May 13, 2007 05:02:16 AM
Inspired by some of the great clothing reconstruction ideas on craftster I trawled through the bags of clothes I had sorted for goodwill looking for stuff to refashion for my daughter and I. This was a dress someone gave us that was already too small so I remade it into a ra-ra skirt.

The dress

Cut off the top, & kept the flowers & buttons

Made strips from 2 other little dresses & used them to make a flounce for the bottom, & some binding for the top.

& here it is from the back

So far my daughter has refused to wear it since I took the pics, but I live in hope Smiley
