1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: My First Quilt - Vintage sheet Quilt on: September 17, 2011 01:42:13 PM
I only just saw this question sorry!, I had to look up what 'quilt as you go' was as I have only made two quilts and just figured it out as I went along.

From what I can tell, no I didn't quilt as I went along sorry. I did the whole of the top of the quilt, then I attached batting and the bottom and quilted through them, you know the more usual way.

Seems to be a few good tutorials on Quilting as you go though:)

Thank you for all your nice comments:)

Yes all the sheets are from the thrift store/op shop.  I have so many more now, I think I have an addiction. If I see one in an op shop I have to buy it otherwise I'm thinking about it for days afterwards and end up going back for it anyway.Smiley

This is my first quilt. It's 100% machine sewn and made completely out of vintage sheets and the batting is made from an old mattress protector of ours (so i know it's not grody)

The back is a vintage Flannelette sheet and the binding is also made of a sheet. I really like the contrast between the purple binding and yellow backing.

I also embroidered a square on each row of the Quilt, Just going around the existing pattern.

I'll post a few of the embroidered squares here, the rest of them are on my blog if interested, the address is my signature.

Thanks for looking! I'm going to give this to my Sister in Law who just found out she is pregnant!

I do like 80 % boys stuff, it is hard to find and sometimes I do get disheartened by all the pretty dresses and things but there are some great things out there for boys.

If you are looking for free patterns and tutorials for boys stuff there is this event that happens every year - http://www.made-by-rae.com/2010/03/celebrate-boy-archives.html

Congrats on your baby boy soon to be born!
6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Snug as a Bug Pj Pants and Hobo bag on: April 25, 2011 02:43:42 AM
I love it when I find some time for some sewing right!

I made these for a first birthday present. The Pj bottoms are from the Make It Perfect book and the Hobo sack is from a Made by Dana tutorial.

I thought it turned into a pretty cute present. Thanks for looking!
