Good swatching advice, guys!  I'll be knitting one up and tossing it through the wash this week.   Smiley

Thanks for the feedback!  I'm strongly considering this pattern:

In this yarn:
http://www.simplyknitting.com/productDetail.jsp?yarnID=293
(I have 10 skeins of this yarn in colorway 60--greens--in the stash.) I'd use size 11 or so needles to make it a bit more breathable.
I'm a bit concerned that it says handwash for the yarn... Why in the world would cotton/acrylic blend be a handwash?
Does anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks again.

saw this recently.  It's a discrete, convertible nursing top. Smiley http://www.knitty.com/issuespring05/PATTpeekaboob.html

Thanks!  I am thinking more shawl/coverish, but this is interesting, if I have time for another project.   Smiley

Personally I think we should stop covering up breastfeeding.  It is, after all, what nature intended.  I always nursed my babies in public and never once used a cover up.

Thanks for your thoughts. I understand there are ideological positions on this issue, but that's not my focus.
I also realize that babies are messy and grab at things, so suggestions for the best way to accomplish knitting a nursing cover up for a Mom that wants one (this is not an unsolicited gift) would be great. Thanks.
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Breastfeeding cover up--yarn/fiber/pattern suggestions? on: May 06, 2007 07:21:19 AM
Hi, I did a search and didn't find anything on this topic.  I was wondering if anyone might have some specific suggestions on patterns/fibers/yarns for a breastfeeding cover up, or if anyone has actually made one that worked well (or badly!).
I'm thinking something with enough coverage to make mom comfortable, machine washable, and light enough not to make a baby uncomfortable.
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That's colorway 84!  I'm using it now to make Lady E. and I love it.   Smiley
