Awesome!  So clever, I love it.  Yay Firefly!

Are there plans to craft Serenity?

You mean the ship?!  I don't know, I never really considered it, lol, but it might be kind of cool!

Small question, where on earth do you get your eyes for these?   LOL!!  And they so completely rock that there just aren't enough words!

I used to buy them at Hobby Lobby, since they were the only store that sold the size (10mm) I needed.  But now I just order them online at www.craftsetc.com, and I don't have to raid the store all the time!  I bought, like, 40 bags of eyes (or some crazy number like that) and I don't think I have to worry about running out anytime soon.

And thanks everyone!

Hey everyone!  I know I've been talking about these Firefly people forever, and they're finally done!  Here is the whole crew:

Aren't they cute?  We arranged them all so that they looked like the cover of the DVD set.  (So if you don't have the DVD set, go out and buy it!  Right now!)  Anyway, I liked this project because I got to watch a lot of Firefly while doing it.  I will only post a couple of photos here of some of my favorite dudes.

It's Jayne with his hat!  Of course I wouldn't make Jayne without it.  He also has Vera, a knife, some grenades and he is ready to go kick some butt.

I really like Zoe, I think she is one of my favorites.  I used doll hair from Hobby Lobby (instead of embroidery floss like I usually do) and it was really hard to work with, but it turned out looking really great.

And Wash!  He has his little floral shirt on.  My boyfriend painted the shirt, it's pretty crazy looking.  Not many accessories for him, except for his dinosaurs of course.

And we couldn't make Kaylee without her strawberry!  She has a jacket too, you can see the detail here .  I used a crazy yarn for her arms, I think it turned out really cool looking.

And I have a lot more pictures over at my flickr page and more info on the characters over at my blog.  Let me know what you guys think!

Oh, I forgot to ask a question: have you any tips on painting felt? I just used acrylics and a brush, but it seems to fluff an awful lot. Yours look so crisp and clean - how do you do it? XD

My boyfriend is actually the one who does all the painting, but I asked him and here's what he said:

He used a 00Round brush (a crap one from a $5 pack at Hobby Lobby) and said to make tiny back and forth strokes on the felt.  It is fuzzy, but the back and forth movement will help to push down some of the fuzz.
For a nice, bold line (not necessarily thick, just bold) put A LOT of paint on the brush and make short lines.  Load up paint, brush a tiny section, load up paint again, brush a tiny section and so on.  This will help the felt absorb some of the paint and look darker.

My boyfriend looked at your picture and said if you want the lines darker, just put more paint on.  The lines themselves are actually really clean, you just can't see them as well as you should because there is physically not enough paint.  Since the felt takes up so much paint, it takes much more than you would think in order to make an impression.

Hope that helped!

That's so cool!  I recognized that mean little froggy right away, although I hate the ones that send tadpoles out at you even more.  I think all the designs from the game are really nice looking though, you should do one of the crabs next!

Oh yeah, awesome job!

Don't resist!  Give in to the call of the beads!

That's so cool!  I think she's really cute.   I like all of the accessories--I think it's the little details like that that makes something really special.  You did a great job painting her little outfit, I think it looks great!

I'm glad that I inspired you to do this!  I'm always happy when someone adds some more geeky crafts to the world.  If you're like me, it's addicting making these little guys, so hopefully we'll see lots more soon!

Awesome i love them, so kool, you are an anime fan?!!!!!!

Yeah I am!  I was so happy when someone contacted me to make Roy--she said she wanted an anime character, and I said oh gosh, this could be bad, but when she said she wanted a Fullmetal Alchemist character, I was so happy!  I love Fullmetal.  I am so happy I get to do an Ed too.
I would also like to do Ouran people, maybe, or I thought Suzumiya Haruhi would be cute.  Gankutsuou is probably my favorite anime, but it would be near impossible to do anything from that.  Their costumes are absolutely amazing and crazy in that anime.

Anyway, thanks everyone!

As always, simply adorable.
I love checking back to see what new creations you have made.

I'm hoping that we like some more of the same shows because I would love to see some from Buffy or Firefly (Jayne!)

Firefly is coming!  I have all of the bodies done, Mal is completely done, the rest just needs their coats.  I marathoned some episodes today, for inspiration, of course, so I think I have their costumes down.

I love Buffy, but I'm not sure I'm going to do them--they don't really have iconic clothes, where you could look at them and say "hey, that's Buffy" or "that's Xander".  I wanted to do Mulder and Sculley, but my boyfriend said "they're just two people in suits! They won't look like anything!".
