2  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Acrylic mediums for cake shoes on: February 20, 2014 06:19:12 AM
Hey all

I am in love with some shoes I want to try my hand at - these from Shoe Bakery are amazing, I want to get that kind of drippy effect on the ones I upcycle but no idea what acrylic mediums are Sad

Can anyone advise? I'm assuming it's some kind of gel, rather than acrylic paint - googling has gotten me nowhere Sad

Thanks in advance!

I got some old shoes, a feather duster and some spare leather...

These are before:

...we covered the nylon tape that was holding the feathers with some purple leather...

And after...

Can't wait to wear them with a coral vintage dress!

I was inspired by a post in the archives of a teapot, that I now can't seem to find. But I took boring mugs that were 1.25 for 4 and 2 x porcelain pens (3.50 each?) and made these for my and my boyfriend's new place that we get tomorrow:

Anyone know anywhere in the UK I can get these or have any unwanted ones?

Quite pricey and rare on eBay and I only need the letters for KIM MARK ND

Thanks Smiley

10  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / tips for internet patterns on: April 29, 2008 05:46:14 AM
I'm sure many of you use the online patterns, and I would love to as well (don't have a printer though and would need to print A4 x 40 at work, ha!)...however, it just seems like a real ballache matching up 40-odd sheets of paper (could take ages), then spending ages taping them together, THEN spending ages transferring it to greaseproof paper THEN sticking that together, to stop them moving, etc., THEN starting to apply pattern to material. Is it really as hard as I imagine? I'm pretty new to sewing but can't afford to spend 7-10 per pattern, well, I'd love to do more than I can afford! Tips? Thanks  Grin
