112  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Re: Hats for kids with cancer on: May 08, 2007 10:27:50 AM
I will pass around the word and see if we can get him some hats. Maybe we could make some Dr. Sues Hats.

Also, I get together with a group of friends and relatives and we sew scarfs in fun prints to send to the local Children's hospital for them to share with the cancer patients.  They really go quite quickly and with about half dozen sewers we get 80 - 100 made in an afternoon.  commercial patterns are available.  We then transfered the pattern to posterboard to speed up the process we trace the pattern and cut it out....no pining.  We then use and iron and sewing gauge to press the edges so we don't have to pin those either.
113  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Mother's Day / Re: not alot of time this year.... but i have 3 moms that need gifts. on: May 08, 2007 10:02:16 AM

I've got the instructions to the heating packs you're talking about http://www.craftelf.com/Hot%20Packs_Cold%20packs.htm
Hope it helps.  In the winter I throw one in bed while I'm getting changed so when I climb in it's nice and warm.  We also keep them in the freezer as cold packs which come in very handy with four kids.
114  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Mother's Day / Re: Flowers?? on: May 08, 2007 09:37:12 AM

I'm new at this so I hope I do OK.  I love the idea of making flowers to give as a gift and  can recommend instructions to two such projects.  The first is to make a set of flowers that are actually pens and therefore are very useful as well as beautiful http://www.craftelf.com/Craft_elf_general_Pot_of_Flower_pens.htm The other is for tissue paper flowers http://www.craftelf.com/Craft_elf_general_Tissue%20Flowers.htm which look quite nice on a table in a vase and can be made in a variety of colors.  Check them out and let me know what you think.
