11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Craft with a Fat Quarter Swap Round 3 (Sign-up Aug 20- Aug 31, send out Sept 30) on: September 08, 2015 09:45:31 AM
nd bottom and a little less than 18" in the center. The other piece that I am using came from a quilt shop, cut with a rotary cutter so it is exact. Maybe I should go buy some more fabric?

well it is as good a reason as any. but if it is less than 1/2 yard at any point, then I would make a point of talking to the supervisor, nicely. But pointedly. Consider it a public service for someone who had to travel ages to get to that shop, bought fabric in good faith, needed exactly half a yard, sat down to use it and found it was incorrect....that is rageous territory.

Well said!  I'm one of those people who has to "travel for ages" -- well 80 miles worth of travel anyways.  I'd definitely say something to them.

Feeling a little annoyed right now. I bought one of my two fabrics at JoAnn's - just buying a 1/2 yard that I planned to cut in half. I got all excited thinking they had cut me 20" instead of 18 - but squaring it up today I realized they hadn't cut even close to straight. Its 20" at the very top and bottom and a little less than 18" in the center. The other piece that I am using came from a quilt shop, cut with a rotary cutter so it is exact. Maybe I should go buy some more fabric?

I'm never one to argue about buying more fabric.  Cheesy

I would take that piece back to JoAnn's and let them know their cutting needs improvement!

On a crafty note, I have finished my first project and feel triumphant!  I may have to make one of these for myself and one for my daughter and one for my sister and one for my SIL and one for my . . .

I was lucky enough to be paired with one of our esteemed organizers, Averia!  YAY!  Have already decided on one project!  I think I'll get started later today!

I'm not quite sure how I ended up posting in the random swap instead of the FQ swap!  I'll chalk it up to old-fart-brain syndrome.  I'm looking forward to partnering up!
